I'm a Randal Keith person.

Although, I'm rather curious as to how Alexander is going to do this fall. I wish I could get over there to see him.

J. Mark McVey all the way! I've seen others which were mentioned but, no one comes close to J. Mark McVey's Valjean - - IMHO re: 24601!

I saw it at Stagedoor Manor once three years back, and the kid there was pretty incredible.
But as far as Broadway goes, I've only seen J. Mark McVey but he was phenomenal. And a sweetie when I met him (my second cousin's a friend!)

That must have been a real thrill! Not only to see him in the role but, also to meet him! Great!

When did Gary Mauer ever play Valjean, Alliez92092? I know he was full-time Enjolras for a while on Broadway, but I've never heard of him playing Jean Valjean.

My two favorites are Steve Gannon and J. Mark McVey. I have never seen someone become Valjean onstage like Gannon. His acting and portrayal were perfectly honed, even if his voice was a little rough around the edges (but I loved that for the character). J. Mark McVey gave the best "polished" performance of the character I have ever seen. He's a seasoned veteran who never loses a single ounce of what he had at his prime.

Yeah - I am wondering the same thing myself...I guess he might have been an understudy...but are you maybe confusing him with John Cudia? He did play Valjean as little on broadway.

Anthony Warlow never played Valjean. Anthony played Enjolras in the Australian production.

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

Randal Keith is going to be in Man of La Mancha next month, in Southern California. :)

"I have taken a role in the upcoming production of "The Man of La Mancha" at the Rubicon Theater in Ventura, CA. I will be the Governor/Innkeeper. A Bass/Baritone role. No high B's, yeah!!!! It is only a month run from Oct. 5th to Oct.29th, so if anyone is in town, come and say hello. You can get tickets at www.rubicontheatre.org."

Anthony Warlow did record several of Valjean's songs, though, and they are phenomenal...

Although his voice gave out tremendously by the end of his run I have to say Robert Marien was pretty wonderful and probably my favorite. Ivan Rutherford and Mark McVey were also very good.

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.
