2nd row for Hello Dolly?

I am considering spending way too much money on a Hello Dolly ticket. My choices are 2nd row center orchestra, or a little further back (G or L) in the orchestra but off to the side. Is the 2nd row too close for this show or is the stage low enough that the second row is okay? Thank you!!

There's also a picture on aviewfrommyseat.com. I sat second row center orchestra too and loved it. Two rows back may have been a tiny bit better in the second act because it presumably would have been better to appreciate the dancing/movement around the passerelle. Yet given the choices you've offered, I'd still go with the second row!



Row G off the side would be great too, but haven't sat there to know for sure. I'm always reminded how small the theatre is when I make my yearly trip, so I think you'll be fine. Have fun. What a show!

When my friends have asked me if it is worth the money I have told them yes. to compensate by staying one night out of the bars or by skipping some of the other overhyped trash on Broadway. I hope that in a few months you won't remember what you spent; but what a great time you had.

I sat Row G left orch. It was great but given the opportunity I would go for 2nd Row for sure!! Enjoy :)

I sat second row center for Hello, Dolly in April- a preview- great seats- you could see every facial expression very clearly on Bette's face- and all of the other actors as well- and the detailing on the costumes was also very visible- I say the closer the better- as long as you do not have to look up because of a high stage- that has happened as well and that is not good- but as long as the stage is low- closer to me is better.

I bought my October ticket on the first day they went on sale (Center Orchestra, D-107, seven seats off aisle). I thought "D" would be the 4th row. But a seating chart I looked at made me think it's actually the 3rd row. Then I saw another chart which had the first row as "AA" and row "D" as the 5th row.

Does anyone know which row "D" is? I hope I won't be so close that I look up at the ceiling all night.

If the second row is priced the same as row G, I would definitely go for the 2nd row. Reason I say this is, IIRC, front row seats are selling for $750. If you go to the weekly grosses, top ticket price is $749 which I believe is the front row. So I imagine if that pricing only applies to the front row that it is felt by the producers that the closer you are the better. But again, I don't know what seats in the second row normally cost since it's not mentioned.



Which makes me want to ask the question...why are people so hesitant to mention what they paid for DOLLY seats (or seats for any hit show for that matter)? There almost seems to be something secretive about it. We don't really know who you are so what does it matter. Yet even my own sister, who years ago paid broker prices for tickets to THE LION KING shortly after it opened, was too embarrassed to tell even me what she had paid. And she didn't even owe me money...lol...yet only answered with, "I went way overboard this time." My feelings are be happy you can afford it. Period. And personally, no show for me is worth $750 a seat yet I'm intrigued by what the market will bear currently.
