Opening nights are always exciting for any show and I know you're going to have a terrific time.
Photos inside the theatre are illegal because even the sets are copywrighted. (Which sounds silly when you look at Chorus Line's 'set' - still, it's true and they will confiscate your camera or the film/storage device inside the camera. I've seen it happen.
When the show is over, try to get out and around to the front of the theatre as soon as possible. All the celebs in the audience will be pouring out the front door and waiting for cabs to take them to the opening night party. I've gotten some of my best photos then!
A click for life.

i'll do my best...but i'm in the very last row of the mezzanine, right in the center - i'll probably be the last one out of the theatre!
if anyone else is there and gets good pictures, i'd love to share them

hey guys -
what time do you think i should get there tonight if i want to have any chance at taking pictures of celebs outside the theatre...? i won't be able to get there til around 6...think that's ok?
re: A CHORUS LINE OPENING NIGHT!#33
Posted: 10/5/06 at 11:05amSo glad you got a ticket for tonight. 6:00 is probably too late (especially if it's a 7:00 curtain). If you want to take pictures, I'm thinking you should already be there.
re: A CHORUS LINE OPENING NIGHT!#35
Posted: 10/5/06 at 11:10amThen 6:00 is probably a bit late as I'm sure there will be a lot of people there wanting to take pictures as well. Either way, good luck and have fun.

"It's actually illegal to take pictures in a theatre at all -- during the show or not. People do it all the time, but if you do it before the show starts, ushers are liable to snatch your camera. Just FYI. "
By the way, do not allow an usher to take your camera. Legally, only the police are allowed to confiscate anything. There isn't anything that they can do legally to you AT the theatre other than call the police. Of course, if you are taking pictures, they will have every right to call the police, but as I said, no one at the theatre can legally take it (nor can throw you out. Only the police can forcibly remove people from a venue).

thanks for letting me know. i'll try taking pics and if someone asks me to stop, i of course will. but it doesn't hurt to try
and somehow i doubt someone will make me give them the memory stick from my camera...
but thanks for all the advice!

Posted: 10/5/06 at 11:32amHalf right Fosse. They can not take your camera or film. However the theatre management reserves the right to remove any guest without full or partial refund if the management deems their behavior to be inappropriate or disruptive to other theatre guests. Its posted in every lobby.

well i'm certainly not dumb enough to overstep THOSE boundaries...hopefully taking photos outside the theatre won't disrupt anybody...

Although the show is slated to begin at 6:30, be prepared for it to begin closer to 7, 7:15.
Why would you WANT to arrive early and gawk at people? It's such a small space and it seems to be more trouble than it's worth.
I guess people like taking pictures of celebrities, but at events like that, I prefer to blend in with the crowd rather than stand out like a sore thumb.
