Did they really take down THE WEDDING SINGER sign for A CHORUS LINE?
Two of my favorite shows! Anyone in New York have a picture?
But how dare they take my WEDDING SINGER sign down.... *scoff*

Did they?
I'm not sure. I was just in the city.
They better not have...

Posted: 8/22/06 at 5:11pmYou know that picture they have on their website? The red background with the title in gold and everyone lined up under it? It's that, only about a million times larger. I'll take a picture while I'm in the city tomorrow.

Posted: 8/22/06 at 5:11pmThe one that's on the block with all the other posters? The one Lynch? I liked that sign. I wonder what the Chorus Line one looks like though. I hope it's more exciting then the marquee.

If they had to/wanted to take down the WS one, at least they replaced it with ACL

I thought that was gonna be it but that one seems very long...horizontally. I didn't think it would fit in a square. They should have taken the Wicked one off and put the A Chorus Line one there. Wicked has enough promotion. Or Jersey Boys.
But i'm just being biased because I love my shows. :]
EDIT: Oh, and yes. The Lynch one.

Posted: 8/22/06 at 6:04pmI would imagine that Wedding Singer couldn't afford to keep it up and A Chorus Line...could afford to put one? I don't think the city just pulls an ad from the building because it has had enough advertisement.

Posted: 8/22/06 at 9:50pmI was wondering how that works. Maybe that's a sign that they're pulling the plug soon? I would think if your show is struggling you'd want to do as much promotion as possible. They should get the show back on some talk shows.

Posted: 8/22/06 at 9:52pmYes, that's it. When you're struggling, you slowly get rid of the publicity. LESTAT never had the full marquee at the palace, they always shared it. Wedding Singer released its big poster. It's about not renewing the space lease.

Posted: 8/22/06 at 9:55pmOh, ouch. Oh well, it's not like we weren't warned. Although why do all the crap with the American Idol reject if you're just going to close? I hope he doesn't grace the tour.

Posted: 8/22/06 at 9:57pmThey're hoping that the Idol will bring in more ticket sales. However, as I posted in another thread, the only way people would go see it is if they had Idina as Linda and Nathan Lane as Rosie.

I like my ideas. Like Bob the Tech Guy in Wicked.
And it's true....Idina and Nathan would sell tickets. Stephen, Laurina Maddnanti, and Constantine Maroulis won't.

Posted: 8/22/06 at 10:14pmThey need to do something more than C.M. - but I can't imagine most celebs want to be a mediocore show that didn't get great reviews and isn't selling well. Usher should have stepped into this.

I find that offensive. Even though, unfortunately, it's true. I'm too protective. Geez, I need to stay away from TWS topics for awhile.
Laurina Maddnanti
That was creative. I like it. You do have great ideas! Especially your signature. I can see "Tony Award winning" written all over that.

Posted: 8/22/06 at 10:19pmlol...I agree with both of you. and by the way, i would totally see that whole "Idina Menzel and Hugh Jackman Read The Yellow Pages" thing.
It was awesome. - theaterkid1015

Posted: 8/22/06 at 10:33pmI love that shot. I just really, really wish they had the photo shoot AFTER they realized they didn't want Robbie to have a mullet. It drives me crazy! He's much more attractive without it and a mullet is just plan ugly on pretty much everyone.

Thank you for the compliments. I'm a writer, what can I say?
Too bad someone stole my idea:

Oh, yeah. I remember reading that a while ago on an old post. I'm actually pretty curious to see how interesting that could be.
But they don't have Idina Menzel or Hugh Jackman reading do they? Yeah, that's what I though.

Yes. The Wedding Singer sign has gone down and ACL is in its place.
I have a picture, but not uploaded yet.

I haven't been to NYC in several months. But last time I was there LESTAT shared a marquee with a dazzling CHICAGO poster thing.
Don't tell me they took that down for WEDDING SINGER, and now ACL.
