As i've posted before, I'm seeing "Hairspray" tomorrow and I wanted to know if anything at the theatre is different - such as the general way people will be dressed - do people dress up more for the final performance? I usually dress nice/casual but I was going to wear my "Hairspray" hoodie tomorrow - I just don't want to feel out of place if some get more dressed up for this special night.

also, will there be any special merchandise being sold? I know the Playbill will be special, but is there anything else I should look for?

Thanks in advance!

You will find the same array of dress as usual. I'm sure the producers and such will be more dressed up, but the average theater goer will be the norm.

And no, there won't be any special merchandising...they will be trying to get rid of whatever stock they have left!

Just dress how you would normally dress at a show. Jeans and a nice shirt are fine.

Yup. I've been to countless 'final' performances and no one dressed differently or treated the performance differently. Just expect the standard curtain speech at the end by the creative team and those involved, etc. If anything, the only complaint I have with 'final' performances is that sometimes the audience is just a bit too overexcited and they scream at every single line reading and every little breath the actors take. At first, its unanimous with the audience, but then it gets annoying and irritating... especially 30 minutes into the show.

And as mentioned above... don't expect any special merchandising to be available. No 'final' window card, t-shirt, etc. At this point, they just want to sell off the remaining stock they have.

I don't wanna start another thread but I was wondering is merchandise a little cheaper because the show is closing or is it the same price?

At Gypsy yesterday, the merchandise was heavily discounted (I got a program for $5 and my sister got a t-shirt for $15) but as of 12/18 the Hairspray merch. was full price, but on closing night I would assume (never been to a closing) that the merch. would be discounted.

At the Legally Blonde closing, the only merchandise that was discounted was the merchandise that was specific to the Broadway production (i.e. the ones that said "on Broadway" on it). The rest was shipped off to be sold on the tour.

Yeah, some merchandise might be, but some might not be. They actually were starting to discount the Gypsy stuff weeks ago. I don't know when it was started, but I was there on the 18th of December.
