The first video on the cast blog titled "Group Sales Event" is the cast rehearsing Aquarius. Sounds pretty good.

I can't wait to see this show, I love the music
Gonna be there on Preview night on Friday. Can't Wait!
It actually looks really good and the cast sounds amazing together.
Having seen the cast on Monday performing at Defying Inequality, I'm tremendously excited. I caught it four times in the Park but always hoped for even more (I really liked it each time, but for whatever reason, I never LOVED it). Whether it was the new cast members, being in a theater, or just the excitement of performing for an audience again after weeks of rehearsals, they turned out a "Let the Sunshine In" that blew me away. Fingers crossed that, however they adapt it for a traditional theater space, they nail it.
I'm really curious to see what the set will look like. Also in another blog, someone stated that they have handprints around the theatre...sounds cool.

The set looks alot like Spring Awakening/RENT. Its a faux brick wall with heat ducts and other stuff running up and down it,fake doors in the middle, there are fire escape stairs going up the right side of the stage that the band is on. There is a truck to one side painted camo, alot of 70s carpets running into the audience. There is also alot of scafolding for the actors to jump around on. There is a lift in the center which alot of actors come up from. All kinds of lights and hippie murals
Also if you are the first few rows near the aisle prepare to be touched and grinded upon.
Thats what it looked like as of a few days ago.
Does the set look tacky or good?
I'm gonna bump this.

Your last post was half an hour ago? Do you know how long it takes questions to get answered here?
Sorry...
Wow! That sounded fantastic. I'll be there on Friday and I can't wait! I loved it at Central Park and I am so excited to see how the transfer fares.
Wicked Rocks- Please post a review!
Of course I will! And I'm going to WSS on Wednesday evening as well!
PS: Sasha Allen is FIERCE. And I love the staging as well...

According to Oskar Eustis, the concept is now that they have taken over this sort of abandoned theatre and made it their home (whereas previously they took over Central Park and made it their home.)
Its a good idea, but they really need to walk a fine line between too simple and too complex- one step either way could kill the show.

I love the cast videos. Megan Lawrence's video is absolutely hilarious. I didn't know I could love her more than I already do, until I saw that vid.
I really don't like the idea of them "taking over a theatre"...it's kind of campy.

this show is going to bomb.
if it was playing while BUsh was still in office and the War was prevalent it might work, not now. NOw people are worried about the economy and don't care about the war or hippies. This show will never recoup.

massofmen- it isn't a new show..it's HAIR. So many people love the show and it hasn't been on broadway in ages unlike Guys and Dolls. Saying it's going to BOMB is a little over the top.
They sound amazing!!! Seeing it March 25!!!

hey , I was right about Legally Blonde when everyone said I was a moron. Especially Songanddanceman2. Who said I didn't know what I was talking about. I knew exactly what the op costs were and I knew how badly the weekly grosses were in comparison. So logically it was going to close. Its all about the money. Math people, math. And blonde lost a ton. It will make it up on tour though.
Hair is 7 million, op costs are around 500,000. No advance tix sales to speak of, and the subject matter isn't current with today's society as we are pulling out of IRAQ in 2010. show has no basis to be here. also we are in a recession. so most shows will die.
It will close by labor day. any takers? come on..it will be fun
Why yes many rock musicals opened when the theme of the show was relevant. For example, RENT opened during the AIDS epidemic..as we all know.
However, HAIR is HAIR. It's a classic show that I am sure many tourists and older people who will be going that saw the original production. Legally Blonde is a little different...it was a brand new show, so you never know how exactly it will do. But I just think HAIR is such a popular show it doesn't need to be relevant to sell well.

classic show? tell me, how many months did the revival before this one last?
...since when does that determine if a show is "classic" or not?
