I believe Catherine Zeta Jones was on vacation this week:
A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC (WALTER KERR) made $485,701 this week and it made $917,526 the week before. Wow!!! CZJ really draws people to the box office.
Because the Broadway Grosses thread clearly wasn't sufficient...

And, to further state the obvious, attendance was at 90% so the audience was there, just at the lower ticket prices offered during CZJ's absence.
I don't think producers care how many people saw the show that night, but they do care about how much they made, and the numbers were pretty brutal compared to the previous week.
BECAUSE they discounted the tickets. Guess whose decision that was... THE PRODUCERS!!! It went exactly the way they planned. They would rather have the butts in the seats for word of mouth. If they hadn't discounted the tickets, they would have made less money because fewer people would have come.

I read somewhere that CZJ is making a crazy amount $480,000 a WEEK. If true , is there any way this show is making money even pulling in $900,000 a week?
Um they offered discounts for the time she was away. If I was the producers I would still be happy with 90% sold

No way, no how.

Did you really? I read somewhere that she's making nothing, that she's doing it for free, simply because she loves Sondheim.
I don't know where you heard that, but Catherine is not making anywhere near $480,000 a week. She's making significantly more than your average Broadway star salary, but not that much.
These are experienced producers. They wouldn't agree to something so high that it makes the show impossible to recoup. It's not SPIDER-MAN.

Stupidest comment yet.
