A Little bit more Night Music.

Trevor Nunn?s revival of Stephen Sondheim?s A Little Night Music has extended its run at the Garrick theatre until 5 September ahead of an intended Broadway transfer.

The production originated at the Menier Chocolate Factory last year before transferring to the Garrick in March. It had been booking to 25 July.

David Babani, Artistic Director of the Menier, commented: ?It is with great excitement that we are able to announce further London performances of Trevor Nunn?s Chocolate Factory production of A Little Night Music. Since its original opening in December last year, the production has played to packed houses both at the Chocolate Factory and the Garrick theatre, and discussions are currently underway for a Broadway production to open later this year.?

Hmmm, I was looking for beyonnd July 25th last week too and could book. Maybe the announcement is late.

At least its not closing before I get to see it.

It alway's was booking at the Garrick until September. Its the end of the current casts contracts.
Just looks good, the word 'extended'!

Didn't work for 'Sunset' mind!

I'm a bit confused. Auditions are underway in NYC for the Broadway producton, (to be directed by Nunn) with tentative dates to begin rehearsals in October and open in December. Does anyone know anything about that? That doesn't sound like a transfer to me.

re: A Little bit more Night Music.

It doesn't have to be a transfer of the physical production that is now at the Garrick.
If the Garrick season were to continue then a new set etc would be produced for any UK tour or New York production.

The latest news last night was that the show will most probably run until the first week of December in London but this will not effect a New York opening.
A New York production will just carry the Meniers name etc as did`Sunday'.

December?! I'm surprised that this is doing so well, paticularly in the light of Spring Awakenings failure, which I thought was a much more commercial show.

ALNM has 350 fewer seats to sell each show than Spring and is perfect for blue hairs.

It has been confirmed that A Little Night Music, will be playing A Jujamcyn Theatre, which will be a choice of either St James Theatre, Al Hirschfeld Theate, August Wilson Theatre, Eugene O'Neill Theatre or Walter Kerr Theatre.

I see it as a choice of the last two myself.

re: A Little bit more Night Music.

It wont be the 3rd either, August Wilson is home to 'Jersey 100% capacity Boys'.
Both 'La Cage' and 'Little Night' will be looking for very small houses especially 'La Cage'.
Sadly Broadway doesn't have the wonderful selection of different seating capacities that the West End has. They are nearly all huge.
When, and it will, 'Next To Normal' closes, The Booth would suit these two shows perfectly.
The Music Box would be the ultimate perfect house for 'La Cage'

But it has to go to a Jujamcyn House, I thought the Eugene O'Neil or Walter Kerr will be perfect, see the merits of The Music Box, Onsage must be close to issuing notices, although I have not been to any of the theatres mentioned.

The Walter Kerr would be perfect and it has hosted classy productions like The Seagull, Grey Gardens and it's not much bigger than the Garrick.

I agree that La Cage would be perfect at The Music Box but I have a feeling that Sonia Friedman and Co will opt for a 1000 seater theatre in order to make more money if it is a limited engagement.

re: A Little bit more Night Music.

This is the production that played the Queens theatre a few years ago, late 90s, i think. It is absolutely stunning and will be a welcome addition to the scene.
It is available on DVD.

I saw the the Mysteries when it did a uk tour a few years ago and despite being quite sceptical , not to mention an committed atheist, i thought it was excellent.

I was in tears at the end...we went on the first night in Norwich when it toured, (half price), then bought full price tickets for the following Saturday!

The Walter Kerr is a gorgeous theatre and the sight lines are brilliant.
I saw 'Love! Valour! Compasion! there and I saw everything perfectly!!!!
