I just did the search that you suggested, johnny, and found the article I had been talking about in my last post. Funny thing is that I couldn't remember if I'd been told that or I had read it. I didn't go into specifics because I couldn't remember if I was supposed to be keeping confidences on it.
But now I know that I can share:
" 'ATale of Two Cities," which tried out a few months ago at the Asolo Theater in Sarasota, Fla., is coming to Broadway - but without its hissy-fit-throwing director, Michael Donald Edwards, and his "creative assistant," Mitchell J. Mills, who showered the cast with notes about their performances on brightly colored Post-its.
(These guys are the Roger DeBris and Carmen Ghia of Sarasota.)
Edwards, who runs the Asolo, recently told friends that he's far too busy running his theater to direct a Broadway show.
But I hear he got guillotined.
The producers of the show, which opens in September at the Hirschfeld, said: "Michael Donald Edwards played an important role in the journey and success of 'A Tale of Two Cities.' Decisions about the show's director will be made shortly.""
