With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-
"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-

Can you hear the people sing?!?!?
Oh, wait, my bad, wrong musical based on a classic French novel dealing with revolutionaries and expatriates in France...
(And yes, I know they're about two different wars...But still.)

I thought this got good reviews out of town?
And are they definitely sticking with Barbour?

""Les Mis"s revolution wasn't really a war, I'd say. Just a small uprising of sexy tenors"
Brilliant!! Besides, Les Miz wasn't even set during the actual "revolution." The majority of its action takes place during another, smaller uprising years after the Bastille, the Tennis Court Oath, and all of the fun stuff.
"maybe 9 to 5 could take the Marquis Theatre."
Yeah, that will probably be available pretty soon.

One deals with the french revolution and the other deals with the student revolution. Two different things.
And Yankeefan, I did laugh at the lock up your daughters comment.
And I do agree with you, I too have nothing against him as a talent. I do have something against him as a child molester.

Posted: 3/24/08 at 8:13pmI love james Barbour, but what a PR nightmare. How can you market the show when the lead just got out of jail for what he went to jail for.

Is it just me or did this come out of nowhere? Last I heard, it seemed that no one had any idea when it might come to Broadway, if even at all.
Yankeefan-
LOL! That was classic.
B3TA07-
Your 'Les Mis' comment was amazing. Truly.

you know, markK's post got me thinking: as many uphill battles as this show has faced, i really wonder if it can afford barbour's baggage? peronally, if it were my money -- or, more importantly, my baby -- i'd be thinking about replacing him for broadway.
i know there have been statements made elsewhere, but the linked article was silent on casting.
