I just checked out the "Tale of Two Cities" official site to find that the opening has been completely changed. It's looks pretty amazing. Starts off with a split screen of Paris and London then fading into shots from the Florida previews. Once you click on a lick it's the same old site. The only other changes is that they cast list has gone from the Florida cast to TBA and they've updated the news section to include the newest articles about tickets being on sale. Now if they'd only announce a cast! Gah!
A Tale of Two Cities
I must say I am very excited for this show. I hope it has a very successful life on Broadway, regardless of the casts' backgrounds. The music is simply fantastic!

We're all very excited too, LuPonatic! Thanks for the support!
Some of you holier-than-thou types should look into the facts of Barbour's case. He plea bargained because he had no choice and the girl was 15 going on 25 - in real terms. Know what you're talking about before you pontificate.
I am listening to the demo recording from 1999. I like the music. I am glad that is finally getting a chance to be seen on broadway.

What do you mean "he had no choice"? Of COURSE he had a choice. Nobody can force ANYONE to accept a plea bargain. And legally or "in real terms" (whatever the hell THAT means), there is no such thing as "15 going on 25". So perhaps it is YOU who needs to "KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT before you pontificate".
Mallardo, I hate to break it to you, but "in real terms," 15 is 15.
Funny, I just brought people's attention the the revamped site yesterday and now there's an article about it.
But something in the article really confused me. The article listed the Florida cast as if they were the Broadway cast. We all know that Aaron Lazar is in the show and yet his name is absent from the list? A case of shoddy "journalism", perhaps?

Does anyone know when rehearsals start? I'd imagine they'd announce the cast before then, right?

I'm guessing most of the cast is set by now. I know someone who is in it (who wasn't in the Florida production), so there are some cast changes. I'm rooting for Barbour though, even though I have a feeling the producers are probably not going to take a chance on having a PR disaster by hiring him.
Few rumors have been circulating other than Barbour is still in and Lazar is Darnay. I'm hoping they have someone better for Lucie. Jessica Rush was pretty but lacking emotionally.
Lazar as Darney is a brilliant choice. Basically it will shift the balance of the show. Instead of completely focusing on Carton, finally there is a Darney that can compete with him. I am looking forward to this.

So, DB, your friend doesn't even know if Barbour is doing it yet?
According to MY friend who is in the show, Barbour is doing it.
Who's he playing?

Are they still selling the concept recording? I followed a link from the official site to buy it via Pay Pal but haven't gotten a confirmation.

Has a final decision been made as to whether James Barbour will be doing it? I could see several reasons for the producers being hesitant -- possible picketing of the show, potential physical danger to Barbour or boycotting of ticket sales in protest because of Barbour's participation. I'm not saying that these things WILL happen, but the producers may be skittish about possible repercussions. Speaking for myself, Barbour's presence in itself would not deter me from seeing the show.
There is a huge image of Barbour on the website, so it looks like he'll be cast.
They wouldn't use him so prominently in the advertising if he wasn't going to be in the show, would they?

I have tickets already, so those picketers better NOT mess with me! Anyways, if there is picketing, I am sure it will be kept at bay by authorities. As it should...this case has been questionable from the start, and there is no reason why people should keep someone from their job. For God's sake, that is ALL he is trying to do! And taking it to a physical level...? WHY?! I find it adsurd, to say the least. Don't propagate such ideas, please.
People who love this material, will go to see this play, regardless. I think those who continue to go around in circles with this issue, are doing a great disservice to this show, and snickers at all the effort, years, love and dedication that has taken the writer and producers of this play to bring it to us.
Amazing how many times the point that the courts have ALREADY ruled on this case and someone has paid for it dearly has to be made! :{

There's also a decent-sized image of Natalie Toro and, last I hear, she was not in the show. Nor are Derek Keeling and Jessica Rush.
Those images are there, presumably, because it's what they have. I have no idea of Barbour will or will not be cast in the Broadway mounting, but the average person would look at those images and have no idea who that was. There is no caption identifying him. They're not hurting themselves by leaving his image up there for the time being.
