re: A Wicked inconsistency

As it happens, I am stuck inside today, packing for a flight I am taking this afternoon. You passive aggressive sideswipes are a cute diversion from folding shirts. Thanks for entertaining, Jo.

Hey, JoMarch, we "moralistic faux-peaceniks" have to stick together.

I wish I had the insight that jczelyph does so that I, too, could tell a "faux" moralistic peacenik from a real one...simply by reading theatre jabber on a message board. Ah, to be young and all-knowing again. Those were the days.

I will keep reading your posts and cheering you on, too. Keep the faith, baby. re: A Wicked inconsistency

re: A Wicked inconsistency

The only time race should ever matter on stage is if race is a specific plot element and if it is not a concert reading. You can have color blind casting in just about any show with few exceptions like Ragtime or South Pacific. Besides, in wicked you aren't supposed to see much of the actor when the green elixer is being presented to the mother. Keeping all of this in mind, i do think it makes sence to block the momment with the actor playing the wizard and I can't explain why it wouldn't be done that way, but i am only a directing student, so what do i know?

Had Elphaba's Mom simply drank: red and green in white buttercream elixir and breastfed, she would have turned her back to flesh tone. HELLO!
