First, I apologize in advance for creating another BE thread, but figured it is safe since this was question specific. :)
I've seen BE five times so far. First two times with Kirl and then three times with David (he was Billy last night). While both are very good, I would love to see Trent.
THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE SEEN BILLY ELLIOT MULTIPLE TIMES, HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE SEEN TRENT? (I'm starting to think he doesn't exist! LOL)
Cheers,
Linda

Posted: 12/27/08 at 10:08amI've seen Trent 8 times but they were all in London. I came over to New York for the first week of previews but Trent was not performing but I did see him at the stage door. So you can take it from me that he is not a figment of somebody's imagination - LOL

Posted: 12/27/08 at 10:09amHe definitely seems to be going on much less than the others. I here David and Kiril going on very often.

Posted: 12/27/08 at 10:33amI've seen Billy Elliot four times...once with Kiril, twice with David, and once with Trent. I think he goes on as much as the other two...

Saw it 6 times--- 3 w/ Kiril, 2 w/ Trent, and once w/ David.
I agree with WAT--- seems to go on as much as the others.

Posted: 12/27/08 at 10:41amI've never seen Billy Elliot live, but I did notice that in one of the TV spots where all three Billies danced, Trent seemed to dance less than the other two. I wonder why?

ive seen it twice - the first time with trent and the second time with david
i can see how people think kiril and david are great technical dancers, but i thought trent was an amazing performer with raw talent, his acting was superb (he oscillated between fragile, confused and frustrated) and he really looked the part. i know that is second to everything else, but he really looks much younger than the other two and remarkably like the boy from the movie. i feel like billy shouldn't be TOO talented technically, as a boy growing up in a mining town with very basic ballet training shouldn't look like he's been in the russian ballet school for years - the dancing should be more visceral. trent's angry dance was very much that
i'd love to see kiril but i have a feeling i'll always like trent best. maybe it's because i saw him first?

Posted: 12/27/08 at 12:29pmmaybe because david and kiril are older, and therefore possibly have a shorter *shelf life* in billy, they are being given lots of chances to go on, plus Trent has already performed loads in london and is younger so may well have a long billy life.

Posted: 12/27/08 at 12:38pmIve seen Trent and David. Trent is an amazing actor, but he has also had more time with the role. He really broke my heart in ways that David did not. He has a fragility and and an anger that were palpable. Also, he was very reminiscent of Jamie Bell in the film. He had Jamie's swagger, pout, and mannerisms of a boy on the brink of manhood who was confused and scared. Trent was tremendous. David was awesome too, but Trent resonated more for me.

Thank you all for your feedback.
This leaves me hope and I am ever so looking forward to seeing Trent someday.
Already have ticket for end of January, maybe then?
Happy 2009,
Linda

Posted: 12/27/08 at 2:43pmI agree completely with Bettyboy's comments re David and Trent. However when watching them I found myself missing what I considered to be the superior performance of Kiril. In the shows I saw he not only outdanced them, he also outsang them. I consider Billy to be a ballet dancer. While the actor playing him should be a triple threat, it's his ability as a ballet dancer that holds prominence. (A strictly personal opinion, I admit.)

I've never been more serious in my life. There is absolutely nothing 'terrible' about his performance. There are many, MANY, posters here who are in complete agreement with me.
There are also a handful of names that joined the board between October and December and who's posts are centered on deriding one boy and praising another. Fortunately their opinions don't mean much to me.

I first saw Kiril in an early preview, when everything that could went wrong with the sets (the whole "Angry Dance" scene in particular), but Kiril pulled it through, and I could appreciate what a wonderful show this was going to be.
I saw the show again a few weeks ago with Trent, soon after opening, and everything went alright. Wonderful as expected!
I also got to see both Michaels, slight nod to Frank Dolce in the messed up preview.
All the kids were great, and I just wanted to mention Erin Whyland as Debbie Wilkinson.
It's been said somewhere that this is the greatest kid casting since "Annie". Agreed!

Bettyboy hit it on the nose with the statements: "He really broke my heart in ways that David did not. He has a fragility and and an anger that were palpable."
Of course, it is important for the boys to be great ballet dancers, but that does not mean the best ballet dancer or the best singer makes the best Billy. I thought David was great and his dancing as on point (pun intended?) but Trent's performance was so heart breaking and belieavable.
