This is a play that I have never seen. It is however, one that has been on my "to see" list for a while if the chance ever did come up. Now, that it is on Broadway, is the production that is currently playing at The American Airlines worth seeing? Or should I wait for the play to be produced later on by a small off Broadway company?

It's a terrific production featuring two of the best actors of their generation (Bedford and Ivey). Go.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Earnest is the rare play that can be seen again and again with no loss of joy. Go see this production and see many more over the years.

This one will be my 4th production I think.

Why would you wait for some off-Broadway theatre to do it? It's a play that, while well-known, isn't often done and done well. This production is stellar.

I understand your thought process, especially with so many thing being done so poorly recently on the great white way.

That being said, this production of EARNEST is pretty amazing. A transfer from THE STRATFORD FESTIVAL in Ontario, its a not to be missed production. Brian Bedford directs with sheen and glamour, and stars with confidence and radiance. Do not miss this show.

Do not miss it. It's a delight, through and through -- as it should be. I loved it.

I'm seeing it for the first time ever as well in a little over a week, and couldn't be more excited!

Just the idea of hearing Brian Bedford growl "A haaaaaaaaandbag" sets me giggling.

See the previous thread about the show. He doesn't really growl it like Edith Evans did. He does something much more surprising.
