Posted: 10/14/06 at 3:44pmok, heres the deal, tonight I have this showcase thing in which i have to sing every thing from tenor opera songs to belty stuff and all other kinds of difficult music...... I'm absolutely POSTITVE i'm breathing, singing, standing, etc. correctly, believe me, I know..... but my voice is exhausted from all the rehearsing.... the notes still sound clear, but the amount of breath I would need to take in to sing my way through the 8 performances of it I have is to much, and when i go to take a deep breath...... my voice teacher says it's just vocal exhaustion and that it's my body telling me to take it easy so I don't have to take shows off..... does anybody know any remedies for this??

just rest. don't talk. you need to give it a break.
if you can't try to keep it very warm, with tea, and lots of honey.
there is also a great throat spray called "singer's saving grace", you can find it at wellness stores, and whole foods.
but those are only shortcuts. rest that voice.

Posted: 10/14/06 at 3:47pmummmm shut up and rest. I don't know what that big mystery is. This is probably a good lesson in pacing during rehearsals too. There's not much that can be done in the span of 5 hours. Drink water, don't use your voice for anything.

But you don't know how to deal with a tired voice?
Tired body? Rest.

Seems you're having an out-of-body experience concerning yourself with your sound production rather than concentrating on activating the material and communicating your intention.
Forget about vocal technique and work on subtext. The vocalism is pointless if it doesn't impart meaning.
