Glad it seems to be getting people's attention in the states. It's s truly unique exciting piece of theatre, I pray the critics like it, it deserves to run.

Really wish I had had the opportunity to see this now. Unfortunately Audra McDonald was sick on the Wednesday evening I arrived in NY and I had tix for Shuffle Along that night. They had to be moved to Saturday matinee which was when I had American Psycho slotted in.
I almost skipped The King and I on Friday night to catch American Psycho (since I've seen TKAI numerous times---though not the O'Hara version). Kind of wish I had. As beautiful as the show was and as good as O'Hara and Watanabe were, I wasn't mind-boggled like I thought I would be (though that ship was amazing!) and maybe should have seen something new instead (read American Psycho).

theatreguy12------sometimes you can tickets for opening night at the box office. So maybe you can fit it on Thur night (assuming you don't already have tix to another show).!

How I wish. I live on the left coast unfortunately. Otherwise I'd try and be there! I might have to take a quickie weekender this summer to catch it.

This thread makes me want to see this show very badly.
Re: the CABARET comparison, does anyone think it might be significant that the timing might match up as well?. Both shows appear roughly the same amount of time (40 or 30 years) after the epoch they are simultaneously portraying and, as is being suggested, offering as a cautionary mirror to the audience.

Another aspect of this show's potential: where does the HAMILTON audience go for the hip and daring, during the year before they can get in? Not likely BRIGHT STAR, TUCK, or even SHUFFLE ALONG. SCHOOL OF ROCK is rather family-ish. This show, whatever its merits, could be the HAMILTON alternative. That sounds glib or facile, but it's the one musical that might pick up the overflow.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this show in May! I already bought tickets for rear mezz (row J) dead center, as I didn't want to risk getting side mezz or side orchestra from rush or lottery. has anyone sat in that section and did you enjoy it?

I HATED the Colbert performance too, and really enjoyed the show. The technical aspects are key - once you add the pulsing lighting, projections, turntables in the stage, and pounding bass, that number suddenly works. I personally wouldn't nearly go as far as OP's rave, but it was an exciting night of theater and I'm really glad I got to see it.

Are seats in the front row on the sides too close and/or obstructed?
