THANK YOU JEBUS. I was praying for this to extend so I could see it for Christmas. I'm excited to see who the new Harper is. Hell, I'm just excited that I get to see it at all!
I am a little miffed, seeing as I bought my tickets for February 9th back in September, specifically out of interest in the current cast.
Not that I expect the new cast will be better or worse, but it's jarring to have to re-adjust your expectations so massively for something you thought was a given.
It's not like seeing an understudy.
It's like seeing seven understudies.
That's a little miffing.
themysteriousgrowl, I sympathize with your feelings. It's very unusual for a limited run to be announced to be extended, and then at a later time for there to be an announcement that multiple key cast members won't be participating in the extension. I'm guessing that Signature didn't know back at the time of the extension announcement who was going to stick around and who wasn't, or they would have said so at that time. But it's still frustrating.
Exactly. And it's such a teeny-tiny little show with -- even counting the extension -- a relatively short run. I'd understand Zach going, now that he's big movie star and all, but I really had my heart set on seeing Christian and Robin Weigert.
Anyway, thanks, mikem <3 You're a Broadway Legend.
By the time the departing cast members leave, they'll have been with the project for seven months, with rehearsals having begun in July. With most Broadway plays running a limited run of 12 to 14 weeks these days, that's a significant time commitment. While it's a production in an intimate space, it's still a full-scale Angels, so I'm not so sure "teeny-tiny" is an apt description.
It is very possible that you are correct about that.
