re: ANNIE comes back to Broadway. 2009!

Are you sure she wasn't cast for the current non-equity tour? Another leg of the 30th anniversary tour just started up a couple of weeks ago. As far as I know, the tour is going to be traveling through the spring of 2009, with a possibility of some time in China. This is the first time I'm hearing of the show coming back to Broadway.

I'm positive, I checked. I also asked if it was for the upcoming London revival, its for Broadway.

re: ANNIE comes back to Broadway. 2009!

It seems a little weird that they have already cast the leading role of a Broadway show without having any hint of a production.

They still have time to announce the rest of the principle cast and gets the news around. As for why they picked the lead before, I don't know.

re: ANNIE comes back to Broadway. 2009!

Well we'll see I guess. They are very vocal about auditions for the tour so I see no reason why they wouldn't be vocal about an open call for a Broadway production.

re: ANNIE comes back to Broadway. 2009!

Hmm..well if this is true, Broadway is really dusting off all the old classics in hopes of making an investment in something that's already a proven success.

I hope it's a good production though...aside from the enjoyable score, it's a mediocre show and a mediocre production even further highlights its problems (like the current revival of GREASE except it's not mediocre it's painful and the material is far more flawed than ANNIE's.)

re: ANNIE comes back to Broadway. 2009!

I highly doubt the highly vocal Martin Charnin would have kept this under wraps prior to casting the lead role.

Who's playing Grace Farrell? Joanna Pacitti?

re: ANNIE comes back to Broadway. 2009!

If I am correct this was just revived 11 years ago with Nell Carter? I saw that production! Plus was there a 30th Anniversary Touring Company that played in all the cities in the US like 400 cities from 2005 to 2008?? (more cities than the recent Protest Prop. 8 last saturday) Personally.. I think there's no need for another ANNIE revival. The only thing I can think of it being 'timely' is the DEPRESSION? If they are going to revived from 11 years ago... revive SIDESHOW!

Current Teen Fiona Marissa O'Donnel was the 30th Anniversary Annie and hands down the best I've seen, and I've seen many, in the role.

Sorry if Patti fans don't like this. But I could see her as Mrs.Hannigan (might of spelled that wrong).

re: ANNIE comes back to Broadway. 2009!

I doubt very much they would cast the lead without building a reality show around it. Things like that are just not done these days.
PEACE.

And maybe McKenzie Phillips will reprise her indescribable performance as Lily St. Regis from the recent tour.
