Apparently she met with Mackintosh and pitched to be Madame Thenardier.
Mackintosh turned her down.
She says this on her blog on her official website in the "Ask Ro" secton: http://www.rosie.com

She was going to try and go on as Big Sue when Liz McCartney went on maternity leave, but couldn't quite pull it together and so the understudy went on.

Posted: 4/12/06 at 4:34amI saw her in Fiddler and I thought she was okay. Not great, but not horrible either. I think she would be fine as Madame Thenardier though.

Posted: 4/12/06 at 9:16amThat's a shame. She should've gotten at least a shot instead of being shot down. Does she still have her huge housewife following? Although I don't know how many would make the trek to see her in Les Miserables; when it was Seussical they could bring the kiddies.

While I'm not adverse to Rosie per se, if there is any chance of some kind of recording coming out of this, I'd rather it not be her. She can be a little pitchy, and also - I don't know... I don't know why the idea rubs me the wrong way.
