Just read that in a new magazine that they were passing out on the street here in NYC. I think it was called "More."
He said he's hoping that the "Rent" film will open up new opportunities for him in film.
Discuss.

thats terrible! broadway shouldnt be a steppign stone into film!!!!
Ugh. I can't imagine him in LA, he's so not an LA-type person. He's too honest, how is he going to deal with all the bullsh*tting that goes on over there?
I feel my little fangirl heart breaking....
and then I know that... if that's what he wants, then who am I to do anything but wish him the best?
Go get 'em, Adam. Don't stay away too long. And don't lose what I love about you.
If I could, I'd write this man a show so he'd stay.
I hope he's waiting until after the movie comes out.
greenegirl, it's not that he's using Broadway as a stepping-stone. He's already said that he's not happy with the material being offered to him on Broadway, so he does have to look elsewhere for work.
*Sheds a tear but nonetheless wishes Adam the best*
I think it's smart to use "Rent" to try and get more film work. Best to strike while the iron is hot.
However, I have friends who have been successful here in NYC in the theatre/Broadway, who moved to LA, hated it, didn't get work, and moved back to NYC.
So, you never know.

Love4cheno, as sad as it would be to see Adam fail... i have to hope he couldnt stand being away from ny for too long!
Haha, I'm not going to go into an Adam-bashing mode or anything.
In all honesty, I'm somewhat surprised. He doesn't strike me as the LA-type guy. I always saw him as more artsy and New York-y than...LA superficial. Not that he's going to LA to go become some superficial person or anything. But...you catch my drift?
.... *Just wishes him the best.*
isn't this old news? someone wrote that cybele? said this a few months ago and then we all discussed adam's acting abilities or lack there of

I just stayed at the Chateau Marmont in LA this past weekend and I saw Adam there two days in a row.
If one can get a career off the ground in Hollywood, one can eventually move back to NYC. A lot of actors do it that way.
Of course, there are those few brilliant ones who never left NYC to begin with- Mary Louise-Parker, Phyllip Seymour Hoffman... Maybe Adam needs a third name.
Several cast members were on the West Coast to promote the film this past week.
*clings to his leg*
Aww, mixed feelings here too. I wish him only the best and hope he accomplishes everything he strives to, but selfishly I will miss him.
This makes me even more grateful for the few events I have had the priveledge to see him in over the past month or so.
Go get them Adam!
I met Adam on Sunday at a SAG screening for the movie RENT and he was so incredibly down to earth. We got to talking about a bunch of things and he said he has always been a musician and has had no formal training in voice or acting. LA has a great live music scene. I would love to see him do some gigs in LA. Although he said Cabaret was one of the best things he ever did, he seems not to like too much of what Broadway has to offer.
Well, I've never visited California before....
I know that I'm being selfish. And that most people never meet their favorite actors, but just spend forever watching them on screen. And I've been so lucky.
Having visited LA, i can tell you that it's a VERY tempting prospect. Sunny and 75 everyday, the beach, the mountains...it's the anti-NYC.

Oh, I just smiled for the first time all morning!
Adam and traffic are not a good combination. *cough* How oddly ironic that someone brought that up. I'll forever laugh at the fact that he missed a show due to traffic (and then whined about it!).
He was never a "Broadway type of guy" to begin with.
Moreso than he's the movie-star type of guy, IMO. And that's not just because I want to see him live. If he continues to be as brutally honest and forward as he is, assuming that he *does* meet success out there, he'll be eaten alive.
He can trade on his "cute guy" thing out there a bit more than here in theatre.
I know there are a million beautiful people out there, but if he presents something unique, it could pay off.
