I'm not a hardcore Adam Pascal fan, but as I said somewhere above, I thought he was very good in Cold Case. The thing of it is that he was portraying an amateur, inexperienced actor, and he had to work at not being as good as he can really be. I thought he did this well.

Yeah, that's true. I love that song.

WickedlyPerfect, thanks, but I was able to follow the plotline on my own. The production portrayed looked tacky for even a community theater production. I've even seen high school productions that are better than that glitter nightmare. So even if you aren't comparing it with the recent Broadway revival of Cabaret, it was still really bad.
And your logic doesn't even make sense. If the director was trying to make a comeback, he would make more of an effort to put on a GOOD show, not an "over the top" and "cheesy" one.

My favorite part of the episode had to be Laura Bell Bundy over riffing "Maybe This Time." So community theatre.

I usually watch Cold Case and even if it gets a bit cheesy-- sometimes, it feels like the writer dips into his cache of thirties detective movies to get him through an episode-- it's pretty enjoyable. Last night's was cute; I mean, no, Adam is no great actor, but he did all right and his character was one of those you just wanted to hug and take home with you. I was a little surprised that he was playing Cliff, but whatever. His voice definitely isn't suited to that sort of singing, which made it appropriate that his character was an amateur. Laura Bell Bundy really bothered me though. I never, ever want to hear "Maybe This Time" sang that way again. The use of the '98 revival recording made me a happy girl, though. At the beginning, as he was driving to the audition, I was like, "It's Alan Cumming!" And my parents stared at me.
And I have to say, Adam's just gets better and younger looking as he gets older. Weird.

um, i insist that i still love adam, but i agree that you can totally tell that he is a broadway trained actor, and having a dumb script was no help either.
but i'm seeing him tonight! cannot wait.

I thought Adam was great and very adorable, but Laura Bell Bundy really annoyed me. I know a lot of it was the character she was playing, but her voice sounded shrieky and i'm pretty positive she got a nose job.

I'm a fan of Cold Case but that episode was probably the worst written one I've ever seen!
Just a few comments re: previous posts
- to whomever was saying they couldn't believe Adam was being cast as Cliff. Adam wasn't. Cliff was.
-it was a community theatre production, hence the cheese.
-LBB WAS annoying as Nora. I'm guessing that that's the way the role was written.
Oh, and John Rubinstein who has more Broadway credits than either Adam or LBB, was at his best. :)

Adam GOOD. Episode BAD.
That's about what it comes down to for me. Cold Case is usually a better written show.

"i'm pretty positive she got a nose job"
If she paid for that, she should sue her doctor. No offense to her, but that's hardly a desirable rhinoplasty end result.
