LOVE the Phantom.
LOVE Adam.
He'd sure be better than Butler.
But...
Remember Paul Stanley was given a shot in Canada. He didn't do half bad, actually

Posted: 1/6/09 at 9:35amI think he'd make an interesting Phantom. But what depresses me is that we are all certain that Phantom will still be running in a year.

Half way through the run or dress rehearsals??? Please tell me it's option b!
And who knows, maybe because it's years later at Coney Island, they could have the Phantom turn into a stoner and challenge that asian guy to the hot dog eating contest!

Actually, it was better than I expected. I think the acting is more of a problem than the vocals.

Posted: 1/6/09 at 1:44pmI appreciate how because HE said he wants to play the part after the Rent tour it has become "Oh God, how could they do this" as if it's official. Actors name parts they want all the time, doesn't mean they are anywhere close to getting them.

This whole idea cracks me up. I love Adam but this sounds so..odd. I'm trying to hear him sing "Music of the Night"...hmm.
EDIT: Just heard the link danmag gave...EW.

"especially since it's such a demanding role, he's gonna he wiped out! "
Demanding? The Phantom has, I THINK, less than 15 minutes of actual stage time. He only really sings one song.
It's the doubles doing all of the hard work.

Although he is not actually on stage too much (it's more than 15 minutes, but not over 30 minutes), what he does sing is rather demanding...especially the Music of the Night and the final scene.
The doubles are only utilized for the beginning of the title song and for the gun shot scene.

I worked on the show, I know.
And the doubles do all of the climbing and running around.

I wanted to play the Phantom terribly
I have a feeling that he'd get his wish-- if he got the role of the Phantom, he WOULD play it 'terribly.'

That's exactly what I thought. Horrible.
At least the comments for that vid are hilarious!

Yes, but Gerard Butler can act.
This is the most disturbing concept I've heard since Zac Efron in Equus. And I LIKE Adam Pascal.
