I just edited my previous message to include the link. Here it is again.
Sherie interview.
Wow...that Heather is a bitch

I would like to hear what Adam would say... since he seems to have no trouble holding back. I sense a bit of tension there.
Going to Northwestern's School of Speech and dealing with all the smug people there will make being a bitch seem necessary...
In general, even reading Heather's online journal entries, she's always come off as being somewhat self-righteous and arrogant, but it hasn't taken away from her undeniable talent.
Puh-leeze! Butz is incredible. Norb is the man! Guess some of you haven't heard "The Last 5 Years", Norb is frickin' amazing on it.
And we are gonna see how great he is the spring in Dirty Rotten....
But, I also think Adam is great, and would make a great Billy Flynn in Chicago!
Well, well, to say Heather is a bitch is a bit of a joke. We know NOTHING about Sherie and Heather's relationship, so to make judgements like that is very silly!
Adam gets on well with Ta'rea, so that's out of question too. He still LOVES Heather. He must be refering to Simone... And we don't know, maybe he is refering to someone who played Amneris???
QM
You're right, QM, but really, without superficial and judgmental snarkiness, what else would we do on this board? Discuss theatre? *scoff*
On with the idle speculation. I think Adam was talking about an Aida, not an Amneris, because the excerpt is:
It must be nice to get along offstage with someone you fall in love with onstage every night.
You don't always get that lucky with your co-stars. I haven't been. I've played the show with a lot of Aidas and some have been great and some haven't. But that's why it's acting.
Was Ta'rea any good? (Out of curiousity.)
Good point, Type_A_Tiff, yes, I missed that Aida bit. I'm not critisizing people for guessing etc (I'm doing it too) but to call Heather a bitch (for something we have no idea about) is a joke.
Ta'rea is great in the role, she has an amazing voice. Thinking about it, Adam liked Saycon as well. Could have only really been Simone he was refering to...not too sure about Heather's original standby (Thursday something).
QM
EDIT: Maybe I'm wrong. He might have had issues with the performances and not so much with the person playing Aida. Who knows.
Since Heather Headley has always had nothing but great things to say about Adam (she always mentioned that she misses his nuances and portrayal when he's not performing), I can only assume that Adam also enjoyed his experience working with her. Unless Heather is totally clueless or something.
Would you go back and close Rent?
Well I certainly hope Rent doesn't close! But, if others from the original cast came back? Sure. I don't see why not. Would I do it on my own? No way. The show has become something other than what it was. We were all young, but a lot of us weren't as inexperienced as people tend to think we were. We had all been working our asses off in various things in entertainment. I mean I was young--25--when we started, but I think a lot of the people who are in the show now are 19 and 20 years old and have literally never done anything before. And I don't want to be in a cast with a bunch of kids! I think that I've gotten to a place in my career and in the community where I want to work with people that better me. I want to work with people that are better than me because that's how I'll keep getting better.
the reason why i hate this man... he thinks he is some sort of AMAZING actor now that he has a couple of shows under his belt. But has he ever taken an acting class? I'm pretty sure NOT. Those 19-20 year old kids, probably have a better acting education that he does.... His should leave his ego at the door!
Robert
As much as I'm an Adam fan and would love to disagree with you, Che2be, I concur. I think the biggest diva at the Palace may be Adam himself. (Maybe that's why he played the egotistical band leader in School of Rock so well?)
Adam does have a bit of an ego, but we love him for(despite?) it! But him going back to RENT with a cast of 19 yr olds would be wrong. He would be out of place. RENT isnt what it once was. Not saying it is better or it is worse - just different. The OBC RENT cast seems to have such a close bond and they truely have something special.
Anywho - in reading the bit about him doing LSoH - anyone try to picture him in a sweatervest? Go on try it! You'll get a good laugh. Throw in the glasses too if you'd like!
No, no, no, a million times no. Adam is beyond Seymour, and beyond, away, around the block and down the street from Fiyero (yech). I can't picture him doing Leo Bloom, but it would be a challenge!
I'm surprised he said he actually approched the LSOH producers to play Seymour, and they gave it to Joey Fatone instead (unless this was way early in the process, in which case they gave the part to Hunter over Adam??).
And now, Anthony Rapp is playing Seymour on the tour, and Adam once said he actually wanted to play Mark in RENT. Oh, the sweet smell of irony.
My internet connection died yesterday, so I called TM Cara who read me the whole thing. I was just like "aw, he's so great!!"
Chicago, strange as it sounds, might just work, now that I think about it. The only thing I see being a little weird is the dancing, but I suppose he could learn. Leo Bloom on the other hand, no way. You all KNOW that if he decided to take a shot at it, I'd be first in line to support him, but I'm not sure it'd work. I'd hate for him to get so caught up in proving people wrong that he gets into something he can't do well. He's really come so, so far and I'm really happy for him. Cara and I were laughing about his minor ego trip, but we love him anyway. Can't wait to check out this new CD, the concert in NJ.... yay! Rock on, Adam!
I think he is right on when he says that going back to do RENT with a bunch of young first-timers would do nothing for him creaively, because... well, it WOULDN'T. He isn't saying he is better, just that he wants to work with people that will make him raise the bar, as far as talent goes.
I agree, "Rock on, Adam" I like him much more after reading that article, ego trip (which I won't deny) and all.
Oh, I think we all know that Adam has an ego! Without a doubt. I remember seeing interviews with him when Rent was still off-Broadway and thinking to myself 'Well, that boy is confident!!!'
I still totally agree with him on the Rent subject. Just go and see the current cast for yourself. Most of them are bored and simply awful. If I was Adam I would NEVER join a cast like that. Rent meant something completely different to the OBC. I think if he was put in a Rent cast with bored teenagers he'd go mental!
QM
I just wanted to say that while his comment about going back to RENT now could be taken as a little pompus (I mean, who's to say that you can't learn something from a 20-something actor?) I still think his intent was in the right place. I think it's great that he's looking to expand and try new things, and beyond that he seems to have a real desire to grow as an actor and learn from more experienced people. Good for him!

I must say I don't find it egotistical that he doesn't want to work with people fifteen years younger than him- he would be out-of-place offstage, and he seems to be the type who likes to make friends with his coworkers. The generation gap would make it uncomfortable.
"I think that I've gotten to a place in my career and in the community where I want to work with people that better me. I want to work with people that are better than me because that's how I'll keep getting better."
Che2be, I don't know what article you're reading, but it sounds to me like he does want to get better, and he wants to work with people who know more. Don't connect that with him saying RENT actors are bad, the reason he doesn't want to do that is separate. "And I don't want to be in a cast with a bunch of kids!" Generation gap. I would not want to be stuck with a bunch of people so much younger than me. And then there's the whole OBC magic, when one goes back, it's just not the same. (Did you see KLK? Not impressive.)
Then again, maybe he's had things blown a bit out of proportion for him as far as his talent goes. With fans like his, it's impossible to avoid. But I don't think he's lost all perspective, don't take it too far.

oh please.. the OBC Magic? What a bunch of crock. He is rude and thinks of himself too highly. Just look back at most of the posts people write about him, for example: Ooooh, he is so cute with blonde hair again... oooh, those tight white pants would look hot on him, ooooh, shirtless in Cabaret, yummy.
Do you guys really like him cause he is a fine actor who can sing and act? Or do you guys like him cause he looks good onstage? - to me it sounds the latter.
If he is trying to learn from his co-workers about the craft, he is going at it the cop-out way. How about taking a course in acting like the rest (and most) of the Broadway commnutiy Adam? Or are you too good to step into a class, because you are a BROADWAY LEADING MAN?
Look at the bio's of the RENT actors right now- they are all graduates of some sort of college, with some sort of degree in the art. Sorry to be rude, in what I just said... but I wouldn't mind if he said all that stuff but without him being so right out egotistical about it.
OBC Magic? That could be said with any OBC magic! What about CABARET magic, those actors had something wonderful there, and he didn't seem to think anything about stepping in there and "not learning" or having "an age gap!"
And yes- I've seen rent lately and it's not the GREATEST thing out there... but I also saw him in several shows, which he gave just as a half ass performance as those kids in RENT.

i love adam because he is not only hott as can be, but he is a talented and dedicated actor. he is a kind hearted and generous person as well. you just have to love him!
Very well said, Undiscovered.
I don't think any of us ever said he was a great actor because he is not. Unlike others though, he is trying and is probably one of the most consistant performers around. He always gives 100%.
I'm not an Adam Pascal fan because of his looks, I LOVE his voice. He has one of the best (and most unusual) voices.
QM
ok. I agree with you on the subjective issue. And I am done talking about him anyway... but to answer why I go to see him in several shows is
Because - I love to support the theatre and on those occasions I did not only go to see HIM in the show. But to see the SHOW, rather.
