Dear Rob Diamond,
Disable your annoying, intrusive as hell pop up ads and I'll disable my ad blocker for this website.
Thanks

Um they could just keep the ads on the sides like every other site instead of making it a popup whenever a new page loads. The website's been really bad past couple of weeks. They continue using extremely dated shockwave flash code instead of new HTML5 for their layouts which take forever to load and have issues with resizing of the screen.
For instance, if you load the site on your mobile phone, the focus automatically jumps to the end of the page about 4 times - so unless it's completely loaded, you cannot start scrolling up because it will throw you back down again. on top of it, there will be the popup which you have to find on your phone - it's not centered. Closing the popup will again refresh the screen which you loaded like 4 seconda ago (yeah, I know).

Hmmmm....while occasionally the pop up happens every page refresh, it doesn't happen for me that often and certainly not right now. Ive also not had the problems on my phone as Valentina discussed.
that being said: when it does happen with every new page, it is very annoying.

The videos are also terrible. If I'm on my phone listening to music, it pauses the music whenever a video ad pops up. And it doesn't automatically restart. When the site is going through one of those phases where it pops up literally every time you load a new page, I just don't visit the site whenever I'm listening to music. Plus as Valentina notes, it's so annoying when you've scrolled down the page and the ad causes it to jump back to the top. I often just give up and close the site.
Ive tried a few blockers without success.

Yesterday. I got redirected to a page telling me to disable my ad blocker in order to access the site. If I disable the ad blocker the numerous flash and Java ads freeze up my browser (I've tried three different browsers and it happens to all of them), slows down my computer, and eventually freezes up everything. I don't have this issue when using an ad blocker, so it's staying. I'm not spending hours to reboot multiple times just to read the message boards on BWW. Is there an ad blocker for Android as well? I hate waiting for the page to load, watching it jump around and eventually taking me to the bottom of the page on EVERY page I click when I use my phone. It's awful.

A trick I use on my phone and ipad is to tap anywhere around the ad instead of the "close ad" bar above the ad and it will make the ad go away without sending you back to the top of the page.
I have run into issues where it shoots you to the bottom of the page until it's done loading. Also, when trying to type a response the keyboard continually disappears until the page is finished loading, sometimes mid-sentence while typing. There have been many times where I'm trying to type a response, the keyboard suddenly disappears and I accidentally tap the link under which letter I was about to tap.

When I get the popup telling me to close my adblocker, I just click the box that says something like "I understand, I've disabled my adblocker. Let me in." (even though I didn't) and it lets me continue on to the site with no ads.
I only have to do this when i first come to the site. I don't get the popup again until I leave the site and come back again.

Yea, I'm doing the same. I hate accessing BWW on my phone because the pop-ups are SO frustrating for the same reason described by the others before, so the ad-block stays on my computer. Sorry.

So far I've just been able to refresh and the adblock message goes away. Ha!

That pop up is terrible. And it freezes up my computer also.

I mostly access BWW on my phone now and I downloaded an adblock browser as well as an ad blocker for Firefox on my PC a few years ago when the madness first began. I love BWW and I know ad revenue keeps the site going but it's just ridiculous when the ads are that intrusive. I'm always out of the loop now whenever these type of threads pop up because I haven't seen an ad on BWW for quite some time.

Agree, the refresh often clears things, and it loads fine. I was recently force-fed Windows 10, and resented it, but this site is one that works much better since. On the other hand, the Other Board (which only has banners) is a nightmare. I have three times had my entire laptop freeze, my cursor eaten by the page. Sunday night I had to force shut-down, just to unstick the page. I'm told it's a Chrome problem. Not so sure. Meanwhile, BWW loads better than ever, and the annoying stalls in videos are gone. Coincidence? Or did Win 10 help?

This worked! Thanks whizzer.
Now if only my pop up blocker would work on my phone.

I had to switch from Chrome to Firefox on my PC. Chrome ran at least a dozen background processes, even when I wasn't using the browser, it used up a ton of resources and slowed my computer down to a crawl. I would have to wait 5-10 minutes of I right clicked a folder just to get the menu (cut, paste,etc.). It was all Chrome-related.

Just want to second whoever complained about the mobile functionality (on the app). It has been absolutely horrendous the last couple weeks. Jumping down to the bottom of the page every time it reloads, magically vanishing keyboards, and empty/blank dialog boxes. It has been really glitchy. Rob -- get on that!

We’ve just pushed a mobile board update out to address some of these and other issues that we’ve been emailed…
Among them, the stretched image icon issue should (finally!) be fixed, the login page has been mobile optimized, we’ve tweaked the (no more than once daily) pop-ups to be instant instead of after the page has loaded, and cut in half the speed of it’s loading time.
We’re re-yelling at anyone out there that’s still using Flash (personally, I use Safari without an ad-blocker, but with Flash turned off) and a few other updates to come!

In the meantime, can you at least delete the hyphen in "advertising-income"?

Well, the pop-up pops up (heh) every time you open a BWW link on a new browser page (tab). The new "turn off your adblock you little cheater" message does the same. I'm the kind of person who skims all the "Latest News" and the current chat threads and open all the things I'm interested in different tabs and then individually pursue them. Both the popup and the new adblock warning annoy the heck out of me. Without the ad block, the website completely freezes if I have multiple browsers trying to use the shockwave flash.

Doesn't chrome block flash ads by default now? As well as Google adwords?

As long as you're not blocking cookies, you shouldn't be seeing anything repeatedly. If you are, email us and we'll assist however we can!

But most of the videos you guys share won't work without Flash turned on. Just tried the Josh Groban chat shared a few minutes ago, and it wants me to turn Flash on again which brings back the performance issues again.

Are you referring to the "I see you're using an adblocker" popup?
