I have to say that those pics of Spencer get MY butter churning.
- I really thought this said he gets your BUTT churning. I was going to say that's a bit too much info.
But I'm sure he DOES get your butt churning!

He just HAS to be cast in the track that performs "Perky Little Porn Star". He HAS to!
PORN Stars in Off-Broadway shows
makes more sense to me
than anything in
N.Y. Theatre in
a long time.
Thanks to his Mamma
for that name too.

I don't think that's his real name. Probably took the name of his first pet for his first name and the street name he grew up on as his last name. Does this show up at the TKTS booth?
Maybe he's Dr. Quest and Race Bannon's love child....
who would name their Dog Spencer?
it's always Up at TKTs
But never in the Theatre.
I'm not at all surprised it is still running. Nudity sells (look how long Oh, Calcutta! ran). The show is clever and charming and here is something many of you may not know...not all the guys have to be "hot". I certainly never would describe myself as "hot", but I was in the Chicago cast for a year. Sure, it helps sell tickets, but talent over attractiveness actually makes it a better show. Most audiences are over the nudity thing by the second number and start paying attention to the performances and lyrics. Well, everyone except the Bachelorette parties who are drunk and think they are at Chippendales and hoot and scream throughout the entire show and try to get onstage and puke in their seats and should be banned from the theatre, but they generate too much income.
I think when people see it, they are surprised to find that it is a little more than just a nudie review. It's insightful and funny and even touching at times. The only thing I don't like about the show is "Kris, Look What You Missed" which is a good song, but completely out of place in the show. It grinds everything to a complete halt and opens a major pitfall of depression in what was otherwise a fun and light-hearded evening. If they wanted to strike an emotional chord in the show, a coming-out song would be far more appropriate to the show's theme than yet another "we're gay, so we have to mention AIDS" song. I mean, why that song in that show? Because it's gay? I can't think of any other reason a morose song about death would be in the show. It's like throwing "One Song Glory" into I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change because they both deal with a heterosexuals.
Other than that one number, which is a horribly cliched miscalculation, I think it is a delightful show.
didn't they cut "Kris, Look What You've Missed" when they shortend the show to a one act?
"Quest" is a nom-de-porn....

The Kris number was cut about a year ago.

Well, THAT makes sense - cut the best song in the show.
Put a fork in this one...porno star or not.
He just HAS to be cast in the track that performs "Perky Little Porn Star". He HAS to!
Amen! That's the cutest song in the show!
"Well, THAT makes sense - cut the best song in the show."
Best song? That's debatable, but it is a good song. In the wrong show. Glad to hear they cut it. I wonder what took them so long. Every night you could feel the enthusiasm and energy of the audience absolutely plummet. It was as if the authors wanted the audience to have a great time throughout the entire show EXCEPT FOR THIS ONE SONG where everyone must be absolutely serious and horribly depressed. And then they demand you have fun again like they didn't just slap you in the face with death and AIDS. And as actors, you could just feel the uncomfortable tension (and at times, resentment) of the audience for a show that completely turned on them. And not in a subtle, creative, artistic way, but in a most cliched, bitter, and self-indulgent way.
I didn't know the song had been cut in New York. By the time I left the show in Chicago, it was still in. The Chicago production recently closed and was replaced by another show inspired by Naked Boys Singing called Naked Lads in the Great Outdoors. I know if features most of the NBS cast, but I haven't seen it. I really should because there are some really great guys performing it.
