Hello and I apologize right off the bat because I'm sure this is a topic you guys see on this board often.
I'm in Chicago and a friend and I are picking up extra hours and skipping meals to try to save enough to buy reseller tickets to see Hamilton in NYC hahaha. Our biggest concern is that by the time we save enough, some of the cast may have left--especially as Lin and Leslie have been mentioned in news articles as moving on in the summer (near the Tonys, end of July are some speculations).
Does anyone know when the casts' one-year contracts are up? I am planning on having enough by early June, but some flexibility would be great because--especially if it's closer to the Tonys--I know that's cutting it really close.

They both confirmed in interviews they are leaving at the end of July. So, you have until that time to starve yourself and buy tickets. GOOD LUCK!!

I think if you have the money fine do see it. I think Hamilton is excellent. But please do not risk your life to see a show. I loved Billy Elliott. But I would not starve to see it. Just save and buy normal tix . I am sure the show will be great without them.

Thank you! End of July definitely gives us breathing room. (Also sorry for raising concern <3 )
I agree with Hamish3. Back when I was in high school years ago, I wanted to see RENT but didn't have the money. I survived by listening on the soundtrack and somehow managed. I did see the show eventually when I was in college and earned enough money for a ticket bought from TKTS. Yeah it wasn't original broadway cast but I was ok with that and don't really care anymore.
Personally, I think Hamilton will be fine without the original broadway cast and having seen Javier and LMM, I think both are great. Good luck though! If you can do cancellation line, I think that may be your best bet since at least the seats are amazing, whereas the cheapest reseller tix are almost always rear mezz. Good luck!
I have no plans on seeing Hamilton again but once it opens on the West End, I think I'll go to London to see it over there. I have a feeling the tix in London will be cheaper too.
I'm only concerned about Leslie's replacementfor all the understudies. To the op: would it make sense for you to stand in cancelation for non premium tickets or hire a line sitter? That would be cheaper. I think one of your biggest costs will be hotels and trandportation. If If I were you I would take a plane or train, whichever is cheaper (I don't live in Chicago) that arrives at around 12-3 at night and wait in cancelation for tickets, rejecting premium tickets as to cut back on cost. You can refuse premium and not loose your place in line. 2 is an optimal amount for waiting in line. You two can swap out and keep your place in line, going to get food while the other waits. The Richard Rodgers is right near times square so there are plenty of options and it's not like you're gonna get murdered at that time of night (it's not the meatpacking district.) See the show, (assuming you get tickets. I have not heard stories of anyone first in line not getting tickets through cancelation, so it seems to be a pretty sure bet but don't quote me), stage door and take transportation back to Chicago. This whole thing would be to eliminate the costs of hotels, line sitters and resale tickets. Whenever and however you see the show, I hope you love it. Sorry if you knew all this, and by the way, it may be wise to attend a matinee if you are using this plan.
Where is everyone getting the end of July? The most I seen is the year contracts end around 7/13. Not to be a pain, I have tickets for 7/23 and would really like to see Leslie "one last time."

Do the actors do stage door for matinees? I might try this someday and was curious.

the fact that we have people SKIPPING MEALS to see this show is beyond absurd. don't skip a meal; just eat cheaper and save up a tiny bit here and there, then get tickets to the slightly more affordable Chicago production. a live event is NEVER worth that kind of high intensity sacrifice. how ridiculous
Why don't you just wait until tickets go on sale for the Chicago production (which I plan on doing). Plus, you'll be getting a brand new company.

Some run out for food and the like but they often try to sort of sneak out. I would say it's less than half. What you WILL see, though, if you are there around noon or 11 if it's a Wed.nor Sat. is them coming IN. We saw pretty much everyone. Got pics with Daveed, Anthony and Jasmine, and pics OF pretty much everyone else.

Dude, eat up !!! Don't save for Hamilton, you will be disappointed trust me,
stevie3, no one thinks you're creative or cool or savvy for swinging in out of nowhere to trash Hamilton. Literally nobody cares.
Except the OP didn't ask for opinions of the show or if it was worth seeing. So in this case, Stevie IS just being a jerk by peeing on somebody's cornflakes.
No one said he couldn't have an opinion, but let's face it: the vast majority of people seeing the show DO love, or at least like it- so really, what's he doing except being contrary?

Surely if someone is this desperate to see it they've probably already heard the music/seen the clips and have a pretty good idea that they'll enjoy it?
Well you could sell a kidney.
No, the thread isn't asking on whether they should see it or not. The OP asked if they were going to miss the original cast based on when they thought they'd be able to get here.
Of course, if you only read the subject line, I could see how you might think otherwise.
