You opened a can of worms on me with this one.
Thanks to one of my favorite people on this board, I had the incredible privilege of being there on September 5th to say goodbye, after I fell in love almost four and a half years ago.

It was the first show I ever really, truly loved, and even though my favorites have fluctuated a bit over the years, this summer put it back in its position as my number one. Permanently. I know it had its flaws, but that score was a monster. I'll never, ever forget the first time I heard that score, and the way the theatre shook. And... it's also the show that introduced me to my Adam. I miss it terribly.

Love, love, LOVE Aida. It's one of my top 3 favorite shows AND the very first Broadway show I saw, so it's got a sentimental place in my heart.
Plus, most of the score rocks and the sets are amazing. (Oh yeah, Heather and that Adam guy aren't too shabby either.)

It was my first love as well. I was lucky enough to see the OBC when it first opened. I later saw the 2nd touring cast with Paulette Ivory, Jeremy Kushnier, and Lisa Brescia. I was so happy to have seen the show twice. It truly is amazing.
I do, however, think that it closed at the right time. It had a great closing cast. Some say its final cast rivals its original cast. It went out at the top of its game. If it had gone on longer, Deborah would have left and we would have another fledgling R&B diva wannabe up there trying to play Aida. It just wouldn't be right.
I was sad to see it go, but I would be sadder if it was open with a sub-par cast.

Nice avatar. I had one that was a black background with the logo, and the dates of the show's run for a while after it closed. I decided I needed something happier for a while, though. The CD makes me cry, still. It's in my fan photos if you want to see.

' Deborah Cox was amazing...and Lisa Brescia, and actually the entire closing cast."
Except for Mickey Dolnez(sp?)-He was HORRIBLE! He looked and sounded like a cartoon character.
