Who pays for the seat removal? It depends on the venue and the producer / presenter agreement . . . but I believe Disney pays for it and the restore. Right now Lion King (from a friend who works at a road house) takes about a week to load in, and four days to load out.
Disney could put in a whole in the deck - it would be part of the rider and venues and presenters would know that if they want to do this show, these would be done. And if the theater does not allow it - either due to rules or the geography of their space, then Disney would need to come up with an alternate staging . . . or not have the show there.

Didn't the first national tour of Wicked have a trap for Elphaba after the melting scene but the second national didn't? Maybe they'll do something like that for Aladdin. As was suggested above, it would probably still look pretty cool if the genie spiraled out of a small rock or some part of the cave that slides on from the wings. If they design it so it appears too small to hide the actor it could still be a neat effect.

The trap on Wicked's First National wasn't automated in anyway though. Simply a hole in the stage with an actor operated cover and platform underneath.. Very different from installing a complex automated lift.

True, but the thing in question here isn't the automation - automation is easily tourable - it's the possibility of cutting a hole in the stage floor...which is also easily done.

Disney did a great job with Mary Poppins and The Lion King to make the touring production as good as the one seen on Broadway and other places while making changes that made it possible to tour. I'm sure the international productions in Tokyo and the upcoming productions in Hamburg and London will have new stage elements especially Tokyo and Hamburg where I expect they'll tour to a different city in Japan and Germany after they complete their runs.

There is a bunch of websites that have tours already in the works like Networks & Trokia. Go to this link. Also, Rent is doing a 20th anniversary tour. http://www.thebookinggroup.com/

Because they are. I don't post speculation.

Don't most theatres have trap space already installed under the decks? Most that I have been to do... then the decks pop put in chunks and you install a new deck with the hole already installed in the chunk you popped out.... It would be quite simple.

You also have to install an under-structure…to get to the hole.
Usually this type of thing needs some engineering, and possibly a structural sign-off. Plus most likely an added crew call. It's not a 'simple' thing.

I saw the previous Les Miz tour over 30 (?) times, and roughly 1/4 or so of the venues didn't have enough of a trap to allow the Thénardiers to pop up during One Day More, Valjean to drag Marius into the sewer, etc.
