YAAAY! N2N meltdown!! Who wants to go film the box office?
I sincerely wish her the best of luck. Let's hope she's improved...
And I just got Alice Ripley mail today...Maybe I'm the Jynxx. lol
How come I feel like it's going to be easy to get a ticket for this show tonight. I mean from the box office considering that there might be a ton of people who will want a refund due to the fact that A according to the die hards there must be a black hole somewhere and the universe must be falling in on itself considering the fact that Ripley is out for one night and due to the fact that her name is above the title and people can and most likely will ask to switch dates due to the fact that she won the tony.
Honestly, how often does the woman miss? God forbid she take a night off to rest up...unlike some people who miss constantly and let said Tony get to their head.
wow I really feel bad for the guy working the box office! lol If someone wants a refund do they get tickets to another show or their money back? I never understood that. And do you think she will be out tomorrow night because I'm seeing the show for the first time and have been DIEING to see it (Ripley being part of the reason)
It's funny hwen people call themselves Next to Normal fans but are completely unopen to see other people take on the roles.
^^^^ Was that directed at me lol b/c I never said I was going to get a refund I was just wondering if she will be there or not. And its also my first time seeing it not my 300th, and I really wanted to see the Tony Award winning actress in the role.

Personally, I'd be thrilled to see a N2N understudy! It's not like they all get to go on that often, so I don't know why people complain so much. This will only be Alice's 2nd time out, not her 400th, jeez.
Is her name above the title?

I really hope Patti goes on for her tonight. Seriously though, taylor is 100% correct.
I've seen Jessica Phillips, and I sympathize with the audience that is going to have to watch this disaster onstage this evening. Unless of course, she has significantly improved since June 9, when she last went on.
And no, I'm not averse to seeing someone else play these roles. I saw Meghann Fahy as Natalie and thought she was FANTASTIC.
Phillips is just...bad.

We saw Jessica go on for Alice following the Tonys, and truly enjoyed her performance. Having seen Alice at Second Stage, and two other times at the Booth, I know she sets the standard high. While Jessica does not have the unpredictable, over the edge portrayal Alice brings to Diana, she does have a dynamic voice, and a more subtle madness that was very moving, particularly in her scenes with Natalie. WE did not feel cheated at all seeing this understudy.

I would if I had seen the show a couple of times, would bring some new life/diversity.
But I could understand if it was the first time seeing, why people would be upset.
Saw Phillips the Tuesday after the Tony's and while she's not Ripley, she's perfectly fine. Break a Leg!

I hope she's a good Diana. I don't usually like to see understudies. When I saw In The Heights in March, I saw 3 understudies and 3 swings (Shaun-Taylor Corbett as Usnavi was terrible) and I really felt that if I had seen the full cast I would have liked it more. If I had seen understudies for Benny and Nina, I would have completely hated the show because of the poor performances. The understudies almost ruined the show for me. Also, it was a matinee with a huge school group who would laugh really hard at okay jokes in songs, making it hard to hear the next lines, going "ooooooooh" when Benny and Nina came out for the song "Sunrise" and snapping along with whichever song begins with snapping. I really wish I saw the night performance instead.
I'd take that box office job over GREY GARDENS *any* day. I walked by the Walter Kerr when Ebersole was out and the crowd was in HYSTERICS!!! The line to exchange/refund tickets was longer than getting into the theater!!!
That's what the line at the Booth was like the night after the Tonys when Ripley was out the only other time.
(Of course, the situation was compounded by the fact that they only had ONE window open, making it much more difficult to move people efficiently.)
I'm sure we'll hear a review if someone saw the show tonight.
RE Alice's FB: She has a cold. No word on tomorrow.
So I am friends with Alice on FB and thinks its amazing that she allows fans as friends but someone of these people make me laugh so hard. They post videos of them singing asking for advice and just constantly its so funny.
^Yeah, her facebook is full of nutjobs. It's funny to read what they write because a lot of them behave like their her friend in real life.
For instance, tonight, when she wrote she had a cold, she had about 30 responses from fans, all of whom offered their own home remedies for the common cold.
