I was rushing a different show right by "All My Sons" last Sunday. By 10:00am there were a couple people waiting for the box office to open and by 11:00am there was a decent crowd. But it was not as crowded as I would have imagined (especially for the weekend). I would show up early, but it doesn't seem like you have to get in line at some crazy early morning hour or anything.
I'd say if you get there when the box office opens, you're all set. I rushed "August" last Sunday and it wasn't a bad crowd at all. Of course, the rush policy is 3 hours before curtain, so you may want to gauge your level of patience if that means waiting a while.
I did the rush two Saturdays ago for the evening show. I got to the theater around 4:50 pm and there was already a line of about 15 or so people in front of me. They got down to the last ticket and there was a group of 3 and a group of 2 in front of me so I got it. (And my seat was second row orchestra all the way to the right).
So I'd suggest getting there early, but getting there hours before or something is not necessary.

thanks for all the responses.
FYI- they didnt even do a student rush for tonight's show, sold the tickets at regular price!

I tried rushing on Saturday evening--the guy at the box office said they werent doing it that night. Instead, he offered me a half-price partial view ticket in the second row. I was expecting a huge line for student rush... guess not.

Are Rush tickets restricted only to students? In the past I was able to get Rush seats for certain shows even though I'm well passed my prime.

Most of the time shows restrict rush tickets to only students. But some shows offer a general rush, available the day of the show. Offhand I know that Chicago does this...
On Sunday they didn't sell rush tickets but sold standing room instead. There was a good crowd there by the time the B.O. opened.
Has anyone rushed All My Sons recently? Where have the seats been? I can't believe I still haven't seen it.

I was wondering too..
I rushed it a few weeks ago and sat in a box. I had an absolutely perfect view (I was in the front of the front box on the left). I guess that was awhile ago, though, so I don't know what's going on now.

When did you get there?
I was just wondering: what exactly is the rush policy for All my sons? Playbill.com says 3 hours before the performance and TalkinBroadway.com says when the box office opens at 10am. Could someone clarify this for me? Thanks!

The box office has a sign that says 3 hours before the show, I think.
I'm planning on getting to the box office around 11 on Sunday for a noon box office opening. Do you think they'll be doing rush? I don't want to wait there and find out they aren't doing it because it jeopardizes my chances of getting other rush tickets.
I got there about 30 minutes before they started selling rush tickets (three-and-a-half hours before the performance) and was the first person in line. This was on a Tuesday.
If the show is sold out, there is no rush, but they have SRO. They don't set aside rush seats like other shows. That's why the rush is 3 hours prior to curtain and why they accept credit cards. The seats are essentially just highly discounted regular seats. I pity the people who would pay full price for those AWFUL seats. I think the rush seats for this show are the worst I've ever encountered. Can't see a damn thing. Unless you get box seats.

I don't think they sell the box seats to the general public (checked Telecharge), because of their partial view nature. They're for "student rush," I guess.
Last Friday, tried rushing All My Sons after losing the lottery for the first preview of Irving Berlin's White Christmas. Around 7:10, got two box seats then and there.
Well maybe the box seats are set aside for rush. But the orchestra and wherever else there are rush seats are not set aside. They're sold at reg. prices until 3 hours before and sold to student rush.
Has anyone been lately? If so, how early did you get there? Where were your seats? They sell the tickets two hours before the show, right?
