All Shook Up starts in run in Philadelphia tonight through Sunday.
I am so excited to go down there this weekend!!! I miss this show on Broadway and am very happy there is a tour right now to keep it alive.
I loved the tour! Have fun and post a review! :)
The tour is wonderful. I had a lot of fun at this show and Susan Anton is great in it! Her twangy voice is unique and really fits the character she plays in the show.
Susan Anton changed so much from when I saw the tour in Boston (end of Sept) to when I saw it in Ft Lauderdale (Thanksgiving). She went from one extreme to the other, though I've heard from friends who saw it in Sacramento that she has found a balance now.
I enjoyed it when it was in Seattle, much to my surprise.
Most people didn't expect to like it and ended up having a very enjoyable experience. Should have lasted longer on Broadway so everyone could have given it a chance!!
I'm very excited to see it this weekend! I've heard nothing but great things about it.
What show are you going to this weekend?
I'm going tomorrow night.
:-]
I just got back from the show and it is sooooo much fun.
Can we get a more detailed review??
Liotte, I'll see you at the Sunday matinee!
If I like it, [I most likely will, it is ALL SHOOK UP = ♥]
I may see it Friday night again or Saturday night.
Edit: Rush? Cheap tickets?
I'll be there Friday night. I had tickets for the Saturday matinee, but an audition for Governor's School caused me to change. They were kind enough to give me tickets for Friday, since Governor's School wouldn't change the day for anything.
Do they use the Bway sets for the tour? I thought Rockwell's design was one of the highlights of the Broadway production.
Most of the Broadway set is used on the tour, just not as much automation as before. The cows and hills are missing though. I have seen the tour twice (Boston and Ft. Lauderdale) and thought it was much better on Broadway. (SakeDad- if you are reading this I'm sorry but the tour just doesn't compare.) I still love the show, but three times is enough for me. Definitely go see it if you havn't though. Regarding Susan Anton, the best thing I can say is that sometimes she looks mildly attractive. I thought she went from mildly adequate to truly terrible between Boston and Ft. Lauderdale. Her understudies are probably at least three times better.
ETA: Who is the new Sylvia now? And why does the official site still not have a complete cast and bio listing?

Combining all-time favorite Elvis Presley songs with a surefire rock 'n' roll story, All Shook Up, tells the romantic tale of how a young girl's dream comes true when a guitar-playin' roustabout rides into a square state and turns the town upside down with his hip-swivelin', lip-curlin'and sexy song singin'.
Take a study break, put on your blue suede shoes, and enjoy the show!

Thanks BroadwayPenguin! Good to know!
I saw the tour in Louisville and was very surprised at how good it was. The performers were obviously enjoying themselves and the music was so infectous.
Oh Gosh...I loved Susan Anton in the show!!!
I'll post a more detailed review later, but.
I throughly enjoyed myself last night.
The music is still arranged in such an infectious way.
The cast was pretty great: Standouts: Jenny, Joe, Dennis, Brian and many others.
However, I can't compare to the Broadway production.
The Broadway production's memories were just so amazing, and so great, but this tour is pretty good.
More later.
But I'll be possibly heading back on Friday night.
A glowing review from Philadelphia Inquirer
"All Shook Up! had a crummy run on Broadway two seasons back, where it lasted barely long enough for a Clearasil pad to work. (For the record, 213 performances.) I didn't see it, but whatever failed to click has been remedied on its road tour."
Agreed on crummy run.
It clicked, it didn't get much publicity
epect for its constant producer battles.
'All Shook Up!': Oh, yeah!
I have heard nothing but good things, but I know someone who ushers and she said I did not miss anything.
I saw the tour a few weeks ago. It was possibly the dumbest show I've ever seen. The book is a disaster, 90% of the songs come out of nowhere and mean absolutely nothing (it was like the songs were picked randomly out of a hat and used in that order), characters appear in scenes for no reason at all...I could go on.
It wants to be an Elvis Mamma Mia, but misses the boat entirely. Mamma Mia showed effort and cleverness in the use of the songs, and the book was surprisingly charming. All Shook Up is a blatantly lazy effort on the part of its creators to cram as many Elvis songs as possible into 2 and a half hours, write just enough dialogue to "introduce" a song, and call it a show.
Horrible. Easily the worst show I've seen in the last year or two.
