It looks cheap, amateurish in design. They should have just used the orignal art.

While a poster shouldn't stop you from seeing a show - it does prevent people from being interested in the show.
People who post here know of ASU.
But the poster is also the way a show is perceived. A crappy poster says that it may be a crappy production. (Hell, if the producers can't put time into creating a simple poster, what did they NOT do for the show.)

"A crappy poster says that it may be a crappy production"
Well, I saw it on Broadway where they used the original poster and, except for some eye candy, it was a "crappy production". I didn't care for it at all.
"a once-proud Broadway show"
LOL! You really haven't seen the show.
Heh, yeah, I was half kidding...but still, a show that has been to Broadway is a show that has been to Broadway, and why they have to make it look like a high school production is beyond me (especially considering its poster was nicely designed here in New York).
Yero - That guy DOES look like David burnham, because he is, in fact, David Burnham.

I apologize to SakeDad, for being harsh on this poster, because it gave the impression that I hated the tour cast. I came to find those are not the actually tour actors, when the "new" ad is released {hopefully better than the previous one shown} it will be of better quality. I do, however love ASU and will go see the show upon its stop in Philadelphia.
ugh no. It is. The original logo is one of my favorites. Blah. Is that supposed to be Natalie with the red hair and short shorts?

Wait? David is doing this?! Wow, totally didn't know that..hmmm, wanna go now!
David's not doing the tour. They just used him as a model for the pictures.
Wait, so they decided to use real people as poster art for a high school-quality poster/flyer and those people are in no way connected with the production?
Yeesh.
Well this should come as no surprise to anyone on this board. This show is crap, the posters are too. It is bound for crappy productions in misguided budget-strapped high schools all over the US.

Geeze, one little thread about a poster brings out all the ASU haters once more. By the way, you guys really are too critical. The show was never meant to be rocket science or the second coming of the new era of musical theatre, it was meant to a be a cute, funny, show that was meant to entertain and be alittle cheesy, alittle sappy, alittle campy. This show was one of my favorites for all those reasons. I feel that should be reflected in an ad campaign, in which they tried with the cartoon verison which is cute, but then the Cheyenne-Jenn verison was my personal favorite, they should go back to that old formula like this one:

Only featuring the new cast members. This was a great ad, and I found it truly appealing and it fit the show.

Not only does it look cheap, but I don't like how it's showing Natalie (from that picture, I get more of an impression that she's this hottie, confident character...not the cute, innocent, fun lil' Natalie that we see in the show).

Agreed. I noticed that too, She looks like a cheap hooker.
The way they're portraying Natalie looks as though Miss Sandra decided to change careers. What happened to Grease Monkey Natalie?

They really should have kept the original design. That new one is TERRIBLE.
Elvis is turning over in his grave
The original was far superior
Is it me, or does the poster look like 80's Gay Porn, with a red haired girl thrown in for good measure?
that's sort of the impression I got too. the girl is all wrong, but more intruiging than the actual character in the show.
It's a good thing I already want to see the tour. That poster would totally turn me off from it.
It's a damn shame this is the "best" thing that could come from Elvis's work.

If you mean, Elvis, I agree. If you mean this show, I don't. It was cringe inducing and the arrangements were awful. I made the mistake of getting the CD before I saw the show. A waste of $100 plus for show and CD. There was some eye candy but that was it and he is not doing the tour.
Yeah... that's pretty revolting... I have to agree.
Disagree again but thems the breaks I guess
