Allegiance (with George Takei, Telly Leung, and Lea Salonga) is offering "priority access" for $5, which guarantees you two tickets to a Broadway or touring production of the show, with a seniority system so earlier numbers get to buy seats before later numbers.
Has this been done before? Anyway, just wanted to pass it along, as I definitely want to see this for Telly...

If and when this show comes to New York, it won't be this season as Lea Salonga is touring with Il Divo through the end of June. There's been no official announcement of it coming to New York - just speculation.
Paying for a priority access code to guarantee you tickets, is a nice thing to have. But, I'm sure we can all agree that this production will have plenty of tickets once they go on sale, and discount tickets as well.

Allegiance is poised to take Broadway by storm
Is it?
This has to be one of the biggest scams I've ever seen. It's pretty laughable to think that this show would ever be such a hot ticket that you'd need priority access to get tickets before the general public who couldn't care less if it ever did get a production going.

Posted: 2/21/14 at 12:54pmIt seems like they are having a hard time getting investors to bring this to New York. It's too bad too since it's actually a very good and moving show. A shame too if all we'd get is the music sampler on iTunes and not a full cast recording.

Posted: 2/21/14 at 3:54pmAssuming they started the numbers at #1, I was something like #2200, so... seems to be working?! I know some of the team/cast, so I'm not overly bothered by it. And if I didn't have any interest the show, I'd still be fine with it, I just probably wouldn't have paid up, heh.

George Takei said this on facebook:
"Friends, don't get priced out! When my show Allegiance opens on Broadway, expect a mad crush for tickets. In San Diego, prices shot from $39 to a whopping $144--and we STILL sold out. So lock in access to great seats at a great price--for just the cost of a latte. Thousands are already queued up, and every day that goes by, that line gets longer."
He does have a very large facebook following. I wonder if this will help the show succeed.

Posted: 3/1/14 at 1:19pmThat Facebook post is misleading. You're not locking in a "great price". Just the guarantee of being able to buy a ticket at whatever price they choose to charge. I really would be surprised to see a "mad crush" for tickets if this even opens at all.

The $5 gets you access to the supposed recording. You have to actually buy a ticket to receive it.

True, but I'd wager that the people buying the priority access actually intend to see the show. I know I do...

Tacky (not Takei) marketing but effective.
I know a lot more about the show now after receiving an invite to purchase a $5 Priority Pass. A great way to get theater-goers to review their website which I think is well done. I'll pass on the pass though.
