I made this point a while ago on another related thread and I'll just mention it here, as another explanation for why some people see a show tens and hundreds of times.
It's more than just loving the show. And it has nothing to do with missing the opportunity to see other shows.
It's a community of friends which forms and becomes an important part of life for the group. I went through it with the Rocky Horror Picture Show. It's a little like the way we all have something in common by posting here, and although we've never met-when we do finally meet in person it's almost like we already know each other, and we feel comfortable in hugging and kissing actual strangers. It's having love for the show in common which starts the friendships and it grows to the scale of hanging out with people who share an important thing. With Rocky Horror, it was a little more than that. That particular film focused on the acceptance of people who are a little different and don't fit into the mainstream of society. I guess other people could have considered us "freaks". It's a great feeling to find a whole community of likeminded souls to hang out with.
If people have a problem with that, then I repeat, it's their problem only.
