I didn't think it was up there w/ Evita, Christine, etc. difficulty wise.

Literally since the show opened there has been an alt Satine, Ashley Loren was the very first

Yeah there's always been an alternate, although I think this is the first time they've publicized a schedule performance a week - it's about time! I've loved the two alternates i ended up seeing.

When Jojo was performing Satine, I definitely remember them having it well-publicized that the standby would perform once a week. I can't remember if it was the same Tuesday night show that Ashley performed when she was the standby, but it was definitely publicized.

When the show first started before Covid, Karen did not have a standby taking over once a week. After Covid it was necessary to have one for obvious reasons. When Solea Pfeiffer was Satine, the standby was on for her several times a week for a couple months there. She performed more than Solea in her own part by the time she left.

When Solea was in the lead, was the alternate Oyoyo or Hailee? Having some trouble remembering

It was Hailee most of the time.

It definitely started under Karen, because I explicitly remember going to NYC for a Tuesday night performance to catch Ashley mere days before Cuomo and DeBlasio shut down the city (and it required travel planning, so it wasn't just luck of the draw for that night). So it may have started a couple months into the original, pre-COVID run?

Karen didn't have an alternate on any particular day, which is what the thread is about. Her attendance in 2020 was terrible and Im sure she scheduled many days off as well. She was miserable and did not hide it.

Karen uses they/them pronouns

Can someone address the vocal demands? I've always found Christian's singing load somewhat more challenging. I saw the show in September with an out-of-town guest, and both roles were 2nd covers. Whatever that means (and excellent, by the way).
