Theatre supplies 'mental health first aiders' for audience members upset by harrowing play

Beth Leavel and Matt Doyle Will Lead WHEN PLAYWRIGHTS KILL in Boston

As one of the lucky few who got to see Faye Dunaway in Tea for Two at the Huntington (and observe a mini-meltdown when she went up on some lines and stopped the show to complain about the lighting), I am very excited to see how this one turns out.

Alternate Satine's - has this always been a thing ?

It definitely started under Karen, because I explicitly remember going to NYC for a Tuesday night performance to catch As

When Jojo was performing Satine, I definitely remember them having it well-publicized that the standby would perform once a week. I can't remember if it was the same Tuesday night show that Ashley performed when she was the standby

Slam Frank's Blatantly Anti-Semitic IG Post

I teach about the Holocaust for a living, and in my years of doing that I have seen a lot of misguided attempts at satire, to the point where I thought nothing left on earth could shock me.

This managed to do it. Absolute despicable to use the visuals they did in a marketing stunt, let alone the text they added to it.

Tom Stoppard dead RIP

I think about the last scene of Leopoldstadt all the time. Rarely have I ever encountered such a personal and powerful piece of theatre, and it's the only time I can remember bawling (silently) in a theatre. What a life, and what gifts he gave to the world.

May his memory be a blessing.

Will The Lost Boys Break Broadway's Vampire Musical Curse?
 Oct 31 2025, 11:06:19 AM

I attended the panel they did at New York ComicCon, and...no, it won't. The songs they demo'd felt flat and lifeless, like a kind of very generic indie sound, and while the cast is clearly talented, it did very little to make me want to spend Broadway prices for it. And that's unfortunate, because I feel like I fall squarely in the target demographic for the show.

Is this in bad taste? Shutdown sale
 Oct 2 2025, 02:14:23 PM

It's pretty much standard to see discounts in the greater DC area when shutdowns happen, as others have noted; when I was living down there during the 2010s shutdowns, my federal worker friends had an almost wistful attitude towards them. People are going through a hard time and are looking for distraction on a budget, maybe even more so this time given the uncertainty surrounding more firings or retroactive pay not being granted.

I didn't see it, but the Tony Awards Ceremony performance really didn't entice me. I thought the washboard choreography took up waaaaay too much of that performance and just didn't make me want to see more of... that.

DEAD OUTLAW To Open On Broadway April 27, 2025
 Feb 25 2025, 02:00:49 PM

Good news--I was looking around, and it seems that there's plenty of tickets available for $49 if you know where to look. Midweek performances on TodayTix look to be in that price range, and there's even some weekend performances with $59 tickets available:

A few days before the show, I recall receiving a phone call from the theater asking if there's anything special needed to be done with the seat (some seats are removable or can be changed due to the needs of the person with disability.)

And no, you are not a douchbag for asking for a handicap seat.

This has also been my experience with both the Shubert and Ne

Not at all! Like TaffyDavenport said, just make sure that they're transfer seats and not an empty space for a wheelchair. The accessible seats/transfer seats are designed for people with any kind of mobility issues as I understand it, while the non-seat spac

Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler to star in ROMEO & JULIET on Broadway?

This was my biggest reason for yawning when I saw the rumor pop up. Nothing so far makes me want to pay what will undoubtedly be astronomical prices.

Total respect for anyone looking forward to it, but I just do *not* get her appeal.

I had to dash right after my performance--what was the sheet music they signed, or was it not any specific number?

One imagines that's the point, honestly. "See, we're not stingy, we're being generous!" etc etc.

Very poor behavior by the producers. The show sells, they can afford to throw the cast and crew a little extra.
