re: Am I the only one who thinks Angela Lansbury

I'm going to put my two cents forward.

She sounds amazing on the cast recording of Sweeney Todd. However, I did not care for her on the DVD, mainly because I saw the version with Patti before and sort of had an image in my mind. I thought Angela played it for laughs way too much. Actually, I basically preferred the concert version of Sweeney Todd over the DVD of the actual physical production (or rather, a reduction of it). I guess it was cuz it was more about the actors than anything else. I was drawn into the story first. I have no doubt that if I had seen Angela's Mrs. Lovett first and then Patti's, things would've been different.

That said, she should've won the Oscar for The Manchurian Candidate.

I don't know if it's more annoying that you posted your thread title as half a thought and finished your thought in the thread or that you had such an asinine thing to say in the first place. Since most of the posts on the Broadway board show a lack of intelligence to begin with, I think I'm leaning toward the former.

PS--Gwen Verdon most certainly CAN sing, just for the record.

Am I the only one who thinks Zeitoujo is immature and never enjoys what he has to say as well as thinks he should not post on broadwayworld?

No you're not.

HELL YES.

Even Patti would beat you down.

I've never spoken to anyone who dislikes Angela Lansbury (yes, its one of my ice-breaker questions)

'fraid so, dear. I like Angela Lansbury- and I think her voice is lovely, as well.

re: Am I the only one who thinks Angela Lansbury

I agree.

I LOVE Lansbury in the video of "Sweeney", and I love her on the cast album of "Mame." She's terrific in "Dear World," and I adore "Prettybelle."

But I've been watching "Murder She Wrote" rather religiously lately, and she's absolutely terrible in it.

And "Duece" was revolting.

I totally agree.
Angela is not a good singer. I cringe every time I hear her version of Beauty and the Beast from the film. She sounds garbled and feeble.
Her acting isn't the best, but she isn't the worst either.

re: Am I the only one who thinks Angela Lansbury

Take these witless children who only think someone can sing if they screechless recklessly like American Idol wannabes, and lock them all in a room with the Cast Recording of BROOKLYN, where they will all be happy.

Angela Lansbury is an actress who sings. And she sings gorgeously.

re: Am I the only one who thinks Angela Lansbury

Mister Matt: Mrs. Potts (IMHO) should have a stronger, cleaner voice.

philcrosby: I am by no means a child. I prefer singers who can sing versus actors who try to sing and can carry a tune (sometimes) but who otherwise should not sing e.g. Angela Lansbury. She is no American Idol but I certainly didn't want her to be one either. Maybe Senior-American Idol?
