I can't see her in a broadway show but I think she would fir perfectly for the movie!
if they really are making the movie sooner rather than later she is a logical choice, throw in rising star Samantha Barks as Elphaba and you can ride on the Les MIs wave of success
I can't see her in a broadway show but I think she would fit perfectly for the movie!
My issue with that, just like with her Cosette, is that if she was to make a short Darren Criss-esque appearance in the Broadway show, then a possibly lackluster performance would only be a couple of weeks. Then, it's done, over, and send in the next girl.
If she's in the movie version, that's more permanent. We can't say "Oh well, she wasn't that great, but I can wait to see the next performer in the role." That would be it.
Sorry to say I'm not a fan of her so would not like to see her in Wicked. I LOVE Mamma Mia but thought she was a bad choice and not likable in the movie.
i agree i didnt like her in MM, but I did like her in Les Mis, which surprised me
Her vibrato is an attack on the ears that should be illegal.
If this happens... I will lose all faith I have in musical theatre.
She can play it in the movie.
As long as she is dubbed. Preferably by Kristin Chenoweth or Megan Hilty.
If they didn't dub her in Les Mis what makes you think they would do it for Wicked?

Definitely not Cheno. The singing voice would not match the speaking voice.
Sorry to threadjack my own thread but could somebody explain the reason behind all the Sue hate? I'm relatively new here.

Spork, don't worry, I will be joining you with your meltdown if Seyfried is cast in this project. Her voice is thin and unsupported, not well placed and her "vibrato" is grating. If they're seriously considering women who cannot sing for either Elphaba or Glinda, I will stage a protest in front of Universal.
Yes, and Lets get Joan Rivers or Joan Collins for Morrible- a gay boy's forbidden fantasy! LOL!!
i think its cool and a compliment that young, in-demand performers who can probably make millions on a movie or tv want to do Broadway!

A compliment! The president of Broadway needs to send a thank you email.
I respect her for saying this:
"I'd like to do something where there's one character who has one big song - a soprano song - but I don't know what that would be."
As opposed to something like Brooke Shields in Leap of Faith. Yikes.
AllThatJazz, i don't think she could play the role on stage or film. Her voice is too thin. She doesn't have the vocal strength for it. Good for her to admit that she is interested, but casting her would be a terrible mistake.
Regarding SueStorm... well, you've got her beat. She's newer than you. She is hated because she is trolling.

How clever! I'm sure that Jordan will be proud of you. ::rolls eyes::
No. Just. No.
I really don't think she could be Glinda, but she could definitely star in a different major broadway production perphaps one with an easier score. If Britney Spears could star in Sweet Charity, Amanda could certainly so it!
DECLARK i dont know who you are, i havent said two words to you, or about you, so its sad that you must insult me for no reason. but as usual that says more about you than me.
I will just quote Andrew Loyd Webber and say Love Conquers All!
kiss! kiss!
I definitely first read this as "Amanda Seyfried Eyes Roll in Wicked."
At least she's acknowledging that she'd a require a good amount more vocal training before attempting one of the roles.
I saw "Les Miserables". Frankly, I was none too impressed by her voice. At least to me, it sounded like her voice was about to snap like a rubber band at any moment. I agree with DeClarke. from RC in Austin, Texas

The pairing of Amanda and Samantha in the movie version of WICKED might be really tempting for Universal to consider. Universal co-owns the movie rights ( doesn't it also co-own the theatre rights?) and the U president has recently announced that they would like to see turned it into a movie as soon as the timing is right. Amanda was in their two movie musical blockbusters ( Mamma Mia! and Les Miserables).

Unless the role was changed for the film, Glinda is actually the COMIC lead of the piece, and Amanda is not a comedienne. At least from what I've seen of her from Veronica Mars to Big Love to Mamma Mia to Les Miz. She's seems the wrong type of actress for the role.
