I know there were some questions in another thread about the release date, and I guess it will be the 19th. You can now listen to samples on Amazon.

Is this a show where you are better off just buying the cast recording instead of forking up $150 for a ticket?

No, definitely not. There are ways to definitely not fork over $150 for a ticket though.

I think it's definitely worth seeing, quite the visceral experience- just go in knowing that you're not going to see a strong book musical. The cast is obviously talented and the set design and lighting were very well-employed. Just sit back, relax, nod your head to the beat, and enjoy the show. It's yet to be told if the energy (and chest-rattling bass) will translate to the disc.

They are showing cast recordings of the show on MTV, they are pretty good.

I ordered the CD, it does sounds wonderful on Amazon... I will wait to jump on tickets though. Could this be the show for best musical?

Well, there a lot of opinions about that phantomvegas. Personally, I think it will win. But it depends on the reviews I guess.

I must say, I love this show and will buy the recording, but the way they chose to produce it pisses me off to now end. It's too Glee-y and clean - judging by the samples, all the roughness and anger inherent in their performances of the songs in the show has evaporated to clean-sounding, perfect Broadway-ness.

Ok, so despite hating the show, I liked the music enough that I was going to buy the cast recording when it came out. But Holy **** that sounds terrible.

I'll pass, again.

I got my tickets for a definite cheaper price. Telecharge has some like 50 or 60 dollar tickets that you can buy, so I would check that out. I recommend to see it, it's fun, not really strong, but it's a fun night out. I personally am definitely going to get the cast recording, because the music and the band is amazing, and the actors have great vocals!

Not knowing how it sounds live, I think it sounds okay. I'm going to get it though because I like the music and the band sounds great. I also like the vocals but they could be much more raw and powerful and less glee-y. But since I don't particular like Billie Joe Armstrong's voice that much I'm happy with this recording.

All of the tracks say featuring Green Day the OBC. Are they the band or is it the stage band? They did play for 21 Guns, but maybe just for that song?

^^ According to this interview I saw with Green Day, they played their instruments for all of the songs on the album and the cast performed the vocals.

The bonus track on that album is "When It's Time" from the show actually performed by Billie Joe, a track penned by Green Day that had never seen the light of day before the show.

Oh my god I'm so disappointed. This sounds terrible. Is that even John Gallagher singing? I'm so upset. This could have been really good but the producers/whoever ****ed it up.
