American Idol...spolier alert!

I'm afraid it matters in the sense that the far better singer, who was obviously gay, didn't win. I liked Kris Allen, too, but I loved the fact that the first words out of his mouth were, "Adam deserved this." They'll both do fine, but America ought to do better.

I think that is more of Kris Allen's personality. He is very humble and always said that he didn't deserve to be there.

A few weeks ago when I asked if Adam's drag pics and sexuality would affect the outcome, people were all like, oh it doesn't matter and no one cares about that.
Now that he lost the first words out of a lot of people is, oh he lost cause he's gay.

I think Kris is terrific and America actually got it right.
He's so much easier on the eyes and his interpretations of the songs he did were unique.

I'm clearly not homophobic (or else I would be self-hating) and I absolutely did not want Adam to win. He was overpraised, overexposed, and I quite frankly am scared about what his album would sound like. My ears would explode if his studio album sounded anything like his live performances. On the other hand, Kris is much easier to listen to. He's got great artistry and musicality in the exact opposite way that Adam does. And I was one who did see him as an underdog and I love a good underdog story. So of course my inclination would be toward Kris. And therefore my opinion of who should have won is not based on homophobia. I know for a fact that I'm not the only one who feels this way either. There are many gay-loving people who just preferred Kris.

That, and Adam sounded much worse than Kris on that song. Lesser of two evils on that one.

And also, that line Kris said about Adam deserving it just shows his humility and modesty. I'm sure he's thrilled to win, he just has a very meek personality. Another draw to Kris. That part of him totally won me over.

MTVMANN,

Also don't forget Katharine McPhee was far superior to Taylor Hicks

Hey Steven--
Honestly, I too thought Kris did a terrific job and I hope you're right about homophobia not entering into Adam losing...somehow, I doubt it! But of course, we'll never really know.

I think it would be foolish to think that some of the voting for Kris was not motivated by homophobia, HOWEVER I too think America got it right. Kris is a real artist with great style. Personally, Adam feels to me like someone doing tricks rather than someone truly connecting to the music. Glad America didn't fall for style over substance.

Plus, no man (gay or straight) should spend that much time manicuring their face and hair. I get exhausted just looking at Adam and the amount of effort he puts into his "look."

There has never been an obviously gay singer in American Idol in the past!

Oh wait, second place leads to Broadway! re: American Idol...spolier alert!

Oh, for God's sake. It's like Adam is the Raul Esparza of American Idol. Does anyone remember the OUTRAGE over Aiken's loss? Anyone remember what happened after that? Aiken became insanely popular and as a result, the UNCOOLEST Idol contestant ever and he was vilified for daring to set foot on a Broadway stage. Honestly, the trendy fickleness of the opinions were supposed to follow require two Intel processors, a protractor, a slide-rule and a lengthy consulant contract with Stephen Hawking. Adam will be popular and hot with the cool kids until he slips up and his CDs sell to the wrong demographic.

I liked Kris. Kris won. And it is ok.

Very well said! Why is there so much discrimination right now against those who voted for Kris?

Because Kris wasn't the media darling of the season.

I personally think losing was the best thing for Adam. Think about it, if he did win then he would be contracted with American Idol for a year. And he would have to play by their rules and he won't be able to be himself. But now that he is not contracted by them, he has the freedom to any contract he wants!

And am I the only one wo noticed how happy he was to lose? I'm not saying he's a bad sport, but I'm saying I think he already has something bigger in the works.

I mean think about it: Idol actually reunited Kiss to perform with Adam, and they had Queen, Rod Stewart, Santana and Cyndi Lauper. Do you really think Idol would have been able to afford them if they weren't planning on making tons of money off Adam? I don't.

My theory, AI sold Adam out to Queen and they are going to get a kick back on everything they make. It just seemed odd how the last few moments played out. Ryan rushed through announcing the winner, he always drags it out forever. Why didn't he say the voting split? In every past season I remember him saying it. And I thought Adam knew Kris was going to win. It was just like he was giving him his moment.

But, maybe that's just me. What do you guys think?

Believe me, all the contestants WANT to Win,
AI allowed Adam to be who he is everyweek,
why would that change?

I don't think anyone who went to the end had amy time to meet on other projects and AI was handling them the whole time,
not saying no one else had their eye on or are thinking.
And as nice as I have heard Adam is as a person,
I believe he exprcted to win.

I didn't dislike Adam because he was possibly gay, I disliked him because he was emo.

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!
