Really America? Adam was obviously a superior singer, performer, and star. Sure Adam is a little eccentric, but that's what make him unique! This show has now lost any credibility it had left, and confirms that talented people don't always get what they deserve. Though I do think Adam would make a great replacement singer for Queen! :)

Besides, no spoiler alert needed when it's plastered all over the homepage. God forbid there should be any readers in other time zones...

Stay off the internet if you don't want to know. It's going to be plastered all over news sites when it happens not when it airs in your time zone.

Bush has won twice in this country, what can we expect?

People will choose a semi-talented cute str8 guy over an outstanding talent because of his alleged-homosexuallity. It's sad.

"Bush has won twice in this country, what can we expect?"

well, to be fair we only elected him once.

Many sites will allow people to find the results after clicking onto the actual article.

As for the winner, I actually wanted Kris to win. I just don't think that America would want to actually buy a CD of Adam's. If you download his singles on iTunes, you'll find he's much better as a live performer. Kris is better suited to mainstream pop/r&b.

Oh god, that song. Possibly the most depressing, downbeat victory song in all of recorded history.

I hope Adam doesn't sign any contracts yet... I still think he should be considered for the lead in Spider-Man The Musical.

I think it would be good for ticket sales and his career. WOO HOO

Go Adam

The song "No Boundries" was just awful. So cheesy, but Adam sounded amazing singing it. He was so much better on that song than Kris.

I'm kinda mad we'll never hear Adam's studio version of that song. re: American Idol...spolier alert!

We won't hear it? I thought they pre-recorded them so that it can be released the day after the finals. But I can't remember if they release them both though.

I'm sure Adam wouldn't be mad if we never heard that song again from him. It's the only time I've ever seen him struggle to get through a song.

I believe that song is only released by the winner.. I won't buy it. I don't think Kris sounded good at all singing it. Not his fault totally, it was a really bad song.

I actually think Kris sounds great on the single. Very radio-friendly voice. Listen for yourselves: http://www.popeater.com/music/article/american-idol-winner-kris-allen-debuts/493154

I've decided that American Idol sways votes like the Tony Awards....

(an example IMHO:)
Wicked lost the Best Musical Award to Avenue Q, not necessarily because it was a superior musical but because Wicked didn't need a "Best Musical" label to sell tickets.

Adam doesn't need to be an "American Idol Winner" to be a success...Kris might. (Though I do LOVE Kris, too. But I think he is far less enthralling as a performer)

and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...

That's EXACTLY why Wicked didn't win the Tony. Bravo.

Kris definitely sounds better on the studio version of No Boundaries than Adam would have. (They both blew it live.) One of many plusses to Kris nabbing the win.

I just don't think that America would want to actually buy a CD of Adam's. If you download his singles on iTunes, you'll find he's much better as a live performer.

I disagree. He shows more restraint in the studio than he did live. Everything lost from the excitement of the live performances, for me, is just replaced with the extra nuance and prettiness that his voice is capable of. (Plus, sometimes I get second hand embarrassment and or a case of the giggles watching him perform. As much as I like him. I think the excitement of his live performances either comes from being attracted to him or being scared of him, and I'm neither. So I just laugh, like it's a fun joke both of us are in on.)

I thought he was supposed to have been potentially in the frame for Spiderman even before Idol. I would be extremely surprised if he isn't on top of whatever short list now. On the other hand, I don't think he would want to, or be able to, commit himself to a long contract at this point. He will get himself an album deal anyway, and he will get lots of opportunities.

Reality, as someone said above, is that Adam didn't need to win to get the advantage of the exposure. Kris Allen did. So on a personal level, in a way, it is the better way round to get the most for both of them. And Kris will have a great time for as long as it lasts. But the sentiment that bought him votes, for being small and cute (and possibly not gay), won't buy him an extended career. And in the long run, as well, the credibility of the whole show stands on the real quality of those who have effectively won through the process. The producers won't be too pleased with the result because they know that, in practice, if the integrity of result is too obviously seen to be on the wane, so the audience will eventually follow in due course. It has such a huge audience that it obviously has a bit of leeway, but I wouldn't be too surprised if popularity has effectively topped out now. Apart from anything else, it might influence Simon Cowell's decision, if he really is considering dropping Idol. And I don't think it would survive that long without him.

President Bush was elected once, but you know...ugh.

"Alleged? Are you serious?", well he has never officially discussed his sexuallity, but we do know that some pundits like Bill O'Reilly were campaigning against him already, which is disgusting.

I'm glad I made your day Caitlin!

Don't be so negative...Kris is very talented.
I think from last week, Kris was already ahead of Adam and Danny. Then after Danny got eliminated, Kris got all of his votes from his supporters due to the fact that if you are a Danny fan you're going to have more in common with Kris than Adam.
Also, even though he really wasn't the underdog I think most people (myself included) still felt that Kris was the underdog and that always scores sympathy votes.

Also, was this the first time that favorite or better singer didn't win?
Let's see...David Archuleta lost last year, so no.
Clay Aiken lost in Season 2, so no
and Diana DeGarmo lost in season 3, so no.

Who cares who actually won? They're both going to get record deals at this point.
