Posted: 7/19/09 at 11:58pmI wouldn't be at all shocked if they got Alice to tour, and billed it as "Starring the original Tony-winning star!" Alice loves playing this role, and would love nothing more than getting acclaim for playing it on the road.

Posted: 7/20/09 at 1:28amPlus... Who knows if the show will still be on Broadway at all by the time this tour starts? Fall of 2010 is still quite a ways away. There could be quite a few N2N OBC members in need of a job by the time this tour starts...

Posted: 7/20/09 at 1:43amI will be FLOORED if it is still on Broadway by the time the tour starts. I'll even be surprised if it's running in November.

Not meaning to be a Negative Nelly, but I highly doubt that N2N will make it more than a year from now. That being said, it's hard to say whether any of the actors would WANT to tour. Most of them have been doing this show a long-ass time already.
To suggest that Avril Lavigne or Ashlee Simpson would even be CONSIDERED to be a part of a show like this is preposterous. The producers aren't looking to cast a side show, but a beautiful and meaningful production. It is NOT a show for stunt casting at all.

"Do you think it would come anywhere near Pittsburgh or Cincinnati?"
I think PlayhouseSquare in Cleveland would be the closest it would get to either of those markets.
And while we're on the subject of casting, anyone have thoughts on Gabe? I'd love to see Tveit do it but I'm sure he'll be caught up in "Catch Me If You Can." I vote Kyle Riabko in all seriousness (and not from a fanboy point of view). I really think he did well as Melchior and he's definitely got the voice.

I'm with Adamgreer, I think having Ripley would be the biggest draw. Being able to drop original Tony-winning star in a TV spot would help sell tickets.
If she did star, that might help it play Ohio somewhere. She grew up in Cleveland and went to high school in the Dayton area. Dayton did get Legally Blonde first year because of area connections. Wishful thinking...

Posted: 7/20/09 at 9:31pmAgreed, if it came anywhere in Cincinnati I could see it being more at Playhouse in the Park...and as much as I'd love to see Aaron in it, I have a feeling he'll be busy w/Catch me...or on to something else. While he's always said he enjoys touring, I think he's on the cusp of blowing up and I can't see him touring for years.

Diana - Julia Murney (I hate her in Wicked but love her in everything else)
Dan - Brian D'rcy James (if he would do it)
Gabe - Jon Groff (i'm partial)
Natalie - Teal Wicks ( I honestly couldnt think of anyone)
Dr's - Richard Blake (I think he could do it)
Henry - Christopher J Hanke
half of these are me just filling in the blank.

Posted: 7/20/09 at 10:38pmKyle Riabko? Lord no! His acting kinda sucks. Besides, he left the SA tour early because he got a Canadien tv show...but you never know the longevity of those things.

"Its hard for me to see other people in the role."
Completely agree. I've spent a good amount of time of thinking of a dream tour cast (other than the OBC) and came up with no one. All I've got so far is Meghann Fahy for Natalie...which technically could count as OBC. So we're back at square one.

Posted: 7/21/09 at 9:26amI feel that now.. after Alice has played the role on Broadway, Sherie would look and sound ridiculous in the role, so I doubt they'd bring her back.. Then again they have in the past cast her in roles she didnt belong in (Ursula), Who else could possibly play the role? And yea, it would be cool if Anthony Rapp came back, but I doubt that he will.

d'Arcy James said in an interview that he is not interested in returning to the role. He said he feels like it would be a step backward in his career.
There's something about this phrase that I just don't like. "A step backward in [one's] career" is a phrase that I hear far too often lately as an excuse for not returning to old roles, taking on roles deemed "too similar" to old roles, or shows that one has done before.
Personally, even if this is valid advice for some other career, I feel it's foolish to keep using such an adage when actors, actresses, singers, and dancers (be it on the Great White Way or nationally) aren't even working in those professions 99.9% of the time. Yes, those are sad odds, especially during a recession, but it's true -- only 1 in 100 shows ever get up. With so much time on the bench in between roles, unless you're constantly practicing your craft, I highly doubt you'll grow as a performer career-wise, or gain any creative stimulation from showing your versatility when there are no shows in which to do so.
A role, any role, even if it's one you've done twelve times before or is similar enough to be the same role with a different name, means you survive for at the very least another six months on an Equity contract. Unless you've got a day job lined up that you can return to, or you're constantly auditioning, I highly suggest eating humble pie and taking the same or a similar role one more time if it means that a producer sees you and thinks you'd be great for a new role. You don't see Ted Neeley bitching and moaning about not getting a Jack Nicholson part after 40 years, and he's about to start another leg of one-night "shed" dates as Jesus. A part is a part is a part - take it. Appreciate it. Cherish it. It may be the only role you get for a while.

Posted: 7/21/09 at 12:36pmI agree, plus he did it recently.. It's not like he'd be revisting something from like 10 years ago. Also I could maybe see why he wouldn't want to replace Spencer on Broadway, but if he were to start the National tour, he'd be the original in the National Tour, so I don't see that as a step backwards at all..
