Hello people, I know, another "Wicked" thread, it's the end of the world, run for your lives...or, just don't read it and get over it. I was wondering if anyone here was going to attend Chicago's sit down production tonight, opening night. I'm very anxious to hear how Ana handles the role and how the production is. So, if anyone is going, kindly post a review. Thank you.

Have any production photos from Ana's version been posted at all? Please let me know where I can find them.
THANKS!!!

Tonight is for a select audience only. Opening night to audiences will begin July 13th.

I am sure tonight is just a preview, so the press reviews won't be out for a week or so.

Tonight is the first performance of the Chicago Company of "Wicked". While no doubt there might be comp tickets tonight there, it was available for sale to the public, so it is not a select audience. I'm rather surprised that they are having such a long preview period. But we won't hear any press reviews until the official opening. The sick thing is, at least in Chicago, preview performances used to be cheaper than the regular performances. Not so anymore.
I think she's going to do better than fine. Obviously, she's a strong actress and she can sing the hell out of the role.
(Remember that High G? "Rapes me~~~!" Crazy.)
I'm anticipating Kate Reinder's performance, actually. I've never heard of her.. but I have a good feeling the Chicago production will be strong.
AND we have Kristy Cates.

Yeah "Preview" and "Opening Night" don't really mean much here any more. When tickets went on sale, there was no way to tell what's a "preview" or when the show "Opens." I've seen "opening nights" here where you wouldn't know that this performance was anything special. I'm seeing it next weekend. I'll fill everyone in then.

I am looking forward to it. Where do they do the lottery? I might try a matinee in a few weeks. There is one advantage of working in the loop.

Back in the day, and I mean the 90s, even return engagements of shows like "Phantom" and "Miss Saigon" had special Stagebills in addition to the regular programs (and often free souvenir programs too) on "opening night." "Show Boat" had free champaign in addition to the programs passed out. When I inquired about opening night for "Sweet Charity" to the box office, the box office said it was "tonight" (this was in March I believe), yet I knew the "opening" as in "official opening" wasn't for a week.

Fosse - that was a huge production of Showboat. I enjoyed it.
"Taste" is also going on tonight also. It's going to be a madhouse in the city this evening. Tonight is "LL Cool J" on the "Taste stage".
I can't wait to see the Chicago cast...just not the actual show Wicked. Partly because I just saw the touring cast (again) two weeks ago. Anyhow, I'm excited about their performance during the Taste of Chicago.
I really can't wait for this cast to start. I think the Chicago cast is going to be so strong. We've got such great performers playing great roles.
