Funniest headline I've seen all year (ha!) ANASTASIA was a terrible film, so unless they have blown up the entire script it can't even be passable. Yes there are things from the film easily fixed (The god awful Animation doesn't matter, and the bad Voice cast is easy to fix too) but the script is so Trite.

Plus that villain with the talking bat. Oy. I think I heard they've been removed though.

I assure you, if there were notable updates, there would be a press release.

Rasputin as a superpowered Freddy Kreuger version of Jafar might be stupid as hell, but come on, that villain song is the most fun in the whole thing. Kind of not interested in the score without it.

I think it is because it is the first out of town in Hartford CT, not exactly a high traffic area for broadway shows. Maybe they would have been better at the Papermill Playhouse?

Well I mean they have other seats that cost up to $85. The floor seats are $25 though which seems backwards to me.

So, the site says that this recommended for 12+. Interesting.

Anastasia's family was murdered during a civil war. It's not exactly kiddie fare.

I only hope we don't see a repeat of Hunchback of Notre Dame, where the added maturity to the show (which also had its origins in a children's animated musical) results in less marketability

I think that is the most amateur artwork I've ever seen but I'm still excited for this.

The image in the dedicated BWW article isn't loading properly, or not for me at least, but it is showing up elsewhere.
Well, it's not gorgeous, but I do like some of the ideas used in it, particularly that 'royal reflection' motif from some of the film artwork. The journey vibe is nice too.

Anastasia#121
Posted: 1/22/16 at 9:49amIt's astonishingly cheap-looking and devoid of real character.

well, this is "only" Hartford stage, I don't know how much of a budget they have to stuff like that? Is their artwork for other (Broadway bound) shows usually a lot better?
But it's likely gonna change for Broadway, isn't it?
