Is that real? And why do they need a theme, anyway?
At least it's not "Under the Sea" like last years prom. Oh, wait. This is the Tony's. They don't need a theme.
Broadway's Brightest?
Seems like the wrong theme for this season...
Really Thenardeir? I can't recall a recent and better season with real competitions....
It is certanly going to be a tight race this year.
Yeah, a tight race.
Just like the presidency...
Last year they chose the theme "ONE NIGHT ONLY." I don't think it needs to be related to the season, but just a way to celebrate Broadway.
It'll be incorporated into the Opening Number, I'll bet. And the Set Design.
I liked that song, One Night Only
perhaps with this theme they'll pick some better numbers to do, since certain ones last year (wonderful town, the boy from oz) didn't really pick the best selling points of the show.
wooohoo hugh jackman!
This year is 100% definitely the BRIGHTEST season Broadway's seen in a long time.

They had better work some La Chiusa Wild Party into it! It's the least they could do for him...

*bites nails* All I have to say is I am soooooooo glad Michael Cerveris isn't up for anything this year. I just wouldn't be able to take that!

for serious??? i keep hearing that this season kind of sucked....but what do I know??
June 5th is so far away
Someone's always going to say "this season kinda sucked" because it's easy to be negative, but it's just as easy to be positive. We got Spelling Bee this year!!! And Dirty Rotten Scoundrels!!! And Light in the Piazza! All of which I've seen, and all of which are amazing in their own ways, in my opinion. And Spamalot!!! And Little Women and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Dracula and Good Vibrations and All Shook Up Brooklyn and The Frogs may not have as much admiration going for them but they were still new musicals that came out on Broadway... Remember all of those years when there were barely enough musicals to fill the category?
And that's just the new Musical category. There have been many wonderful plays this year too... and there's steep competition in all of the categories in my opinion...
I'm sure that they're using a theme to try and get more of an audience. Some people don't even know what the Tony Awards are, it's sad, really. So the more exciting they can make it, (theoretically) the more people will watch. I'm surprised Hugh's face isn't plastered all over the ad.
IMHO, this has been one of the best Broadway seasons in years.
what i just want to know is why hugh jackman is always the host, unless last year was his first time hosting, which, even so, why is he hosting two years in a row? yeah, hes hot and talented and austrailian and i love him and everything, but cant they get someone else, mix it up a bit?

Hugh Jackman is fine as host. They're lucky to have him.
The theme could be Sondheim, in recognition of his 75th birthday this year.

I like my suggestion for a theme better: "Not Dead Yet" featuring Sweet Charity's miraculous return from cancellation, Brooklyn and Good Vibration's continuing run in spite of weekly cancellation rumors....And Broadway as a whole, is, despite many dire predictions, NOT DEAD YET-- this is a season to marvel at. Many of you are too young to remember years where categories had to be trimmed because there were NOT enough shows. They cut the "Best Musical" category to TWO nominees one year because that was ALL that were eligible.
