Put her back in the Broadway where she started! She's coming home! Oh, and before you jump...I don't even know what's playing there now, but wouldn't it be kinda nice?

Posted: 10/4/11 at 7:30pmI see Sister Act lasting past New Year's and sticking around through the spring & hopefully summer 2012. So the Broadway seems out. And do the producers really think Rebecca would sell at the Broadway??

Posted: 10/4/11 at 7:34pm^Not the Broadway. Maybe the Belasco?

Didn't Riedel say the cast of Follies was only contracted up until 01st January and couldn't extend, which means Evita would go into the Marquis
So if Follies extends, Evita possible go into the Palace or even the Richard Rodgers
Rebecca for the Imperial, does seem possible very realistic as the show wants a Shubert house and they have that bloody big hole in the stage floor, left vacated by Billy Elliots bedroom?

One Man Two Guvnors,I would say either The Broadhurst or The Bernard B Jacobs. Funny Girl, either the Imperial or the Rodgers depending on how Porgy and Bess does and Rebecca either The Broadway or the Imperial.
I think the Donmar production of Anna Christie will transfer as will End of the Rainbow, think the Music Box or Golden would be ideal for those two shows.

Posted: 10/5/11 at 12:42amThe Funny Girl to the Rodgers rumor stemmed from when Riedel was predicting that Porgy and Bess wouldn't open. Despite Porgy making it to Broadway, I think Funny Girl still has its eye on the Rodgers. Perhaps people aren't expecting much of a run from Porgy.

Posted: 10/5/11 at 1:29amWasnt Funny Girl supposed to come next season? OR am I mistaken? Regardless, my hope is that Follies will extend so I may see it in March.

I can understand why this thread has taken the path that it has -- I mean, how much can be said about EVITA going into the Palace -- and as much as I am strongly hoping for the best with Bartlett Sher's FUNNY GIRL, I think the production has to fly high on the West Coast before any solid plans are made to land her on Broadway.

Once more people, the deal with Evita was made with the Nederlanders....
So stop suggesting the Imperial or the Broadway, or the Belasco or any other Shubert house.

So, with hope, this season SHOULD look like this:
New Musicals:
Lysistrata Jones- Walter Kerr
Ghost- Lunt Fontanne
Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark- Foxwoods
Bonnie and Clyde- Shoenfeld
(Seriously, the above are the ONLY new musicals with confirmed theatres... seriously...)
Expected:
Newsies- Nederlander (Pretty much confirmed, really)
Rebecca- Broadway (Something tells me they're going to WANT that collapsing staircase on Broadway, as well as somewhere to put it)
Nice Work If you Can Get It- Al Hirschfeld (The Jujucyamins have a theatre that'll be free, or expect to be, otherwise why the hell would they offer it for Newsies. My prediction? Nick Jonas is only contracted until March, and they plan to close How to Succeed when he leaves, then prep it for another show in April. Considerring this has quite a bit of starpower with it now, my guess is this will come here before any of the other new musicals currently rumored)
Big Fish- Broadhurst (One of the few semi-large theatres that'll be open come January, my guess is Stroman will take the theatre in a heart beat, unless Big Fish delays... which given the shortage of original musicals slated for this season, i really hope doesn't happen)
Yank!- Longacre (Such a perfect theatre... so perfect :) )
Once- Lyceum/ Belasco (It sounds like either of there two theatres could fit this show, and given the thin competition, it sounds like this is almost certainly coming to Broadway. Agree?)
The Toxic Avenger (If it does happen)- Golden (If.... IF)
Other musicals to consider: Leap of Faith, Little Miss Sunshine. If one of the above or below close (which i'm sure will happen, last season anyone?), I could easily see these shows being readied in the wings.
Revivals:
Follies- Marquis
Godspell- Circle in the Square
On A Clear Day...- St James
Porgy and Bess- Richard Rodgers
Jesus Christ Superstar- Neil Simon
Funny Girl- Imperial
Evita- Palace
(Dear god, if even two of the above musicals last season, just imagine... imagine :) )

If FOLLIES lasts til June, I'm hoping we get to see "Who's That Woman?" performed on the Tony Awards.
If FOLLIES closes in January, it'll probably end up being "How Could I Leave You?" on the Tony Awards, IF it gets a performance.
...
Oh dear, did I just start a "what're they gonna perform on the Tonys?" discussion? God help us...
