Does Andrew Lippa have anything new in the works? I haven't seen anything from him since Big Fish.

That was the same season as Big Fish. It was alright, but it was only a 50 minute oratorio. I'm hoping to see more full length musicals from him.

Would love to see him do new and original material; but I often wonder what his take on The Groundhog Day might have been.

"The Man in the Ceiling" premiered at The New Works Festival in Sag Harbor in April.

I think his lyrics are good. They're not at the level of Sondheim or anything, but they serve their purpose in the song. The main problem I have with his show John & Jen, where he didn't write the lyrics, is that the lyrics get too vague at times. Maybe if he wrote the lyrics, that would have been different.

He wrote a companion piece for it called "I Am Anne Hutchinson" that premiered in DC in April. The 2 pieces together make it a full 2-act show. Kristin Chenoweth played Anne Hutchinson, which was also written for he. The piece was absolutely stunning, and I hope it will get more performances, and come to NY as well.
But of course it's still not a musical, and would never play on Broadway. It's the type of show that get's one or two night only concert performances across the country, much like I Am Harvey Milk already did by itself.
He has been working on The Men in the Ceiling for quite some time, he did a song from it back at his concert in London in 2013. I'm sad I couldn't make it to the world premiere in the summer. The story sounded really interesting, and he was gonna star in it himself - he said it was the first time he'd written a part for himself if I remember correctly.
I personally love his lyrics as much as I love his music, so I disagree him needed a lyricist.
It was just announced he'll do a concert at the Lincoln Center American Songbook series next February, If you go to that you'll probably find out more about what he's working on!

From mid-August-Mid September Andrew Lippa performed in a review of his songs "The Life of the Party" at TheatreWorks in The Bay Area. He was joined by Sally Ann Triplett, Damian Humbley and Teal Wicks. Apparently, he has done this show in London as well. I was really not that familiar with him but it was quite entertaining. I don't know if he has plans to take that show any place else. From his comments, I got the general impression he's working on some things but nothing that will be ready to go in the very near future.

He's collaborating on a revisal of "Snoopy!" as a more explicitly connected companion piece to "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" now, I believe.
