Spotted Andy Blankenbuehler in Every Little Step, the documentary about the auditions for A Chorus Line revival. Interestingly, at the moment you see him, Bob Avian is holding up his photo and says “it’s a no.” Had to laugh and say “look how far he has come!”

Yes!! I've always loved this little unintentional "Easter egg." Hilarious!

He’s not an actor so it made zero sense why he even auditioned. He has one Broadway acting credit and an endless amount of Broadway choreography credits. It’s quite obvious acting wasn’t a talent he possessed and Bob Avian’s assessment was a unanimous one in Andy’s career. Some dancers are meant to be choreographers and some aren’t. Heck, even Gwen Verdon has said she never in her life wanted to ever choreograph. She did enjoy teaching and coaching other choreographer’s work, though.

Interesting point. Well, according to the card he “sings well.”
The next card they showed was Amy Spanger, whose card indicated she was up for Maggie.
I also spotted Manuel Herrera (original Chistery) and Asmeret Ghebremichal.
would love to know who else I missed!

I checked IBDB. The year on the photo is 2005. Up until that year, Andy was a dancer with Broadway credits. As such, it make sense for him to audition for A Chorus Line. How many members of the original production were actors? Andy's first Broadway credit as choreography was for The Apple Tree 2006.

Would be interesting (for a niche few of us) to see it revived with a real established choreographer as Zach. AB would fit the bill!
