Jenny Powers is Rizzo?!? That's just weird and wrong casting - not because she's bad, but because there are so many other more interesting choices for THAT particular role... she is more of a Marty to me.
She's a good business woman though, so good for her!! :)

Posted: 3/16/07 at 11:15pmmy friend once did grease at a henious theater over the summer and like usual parts were split up you know to make more room. so she was suzy simcox and the girl was like patty _____. Lame.com I say. It is always a good laugh though.

They should bring back Billy Porter as Teen Angel.
Could he still even sing it, given the myriad of vocal problems he has had in the past few years.
Jenny Powers would be just about the only thing that would get me to see this. For the poster who thought she'd be wrong for the part, did you see her playing the bad girl par excellence in OF THEE I SING? In my mind, she's the perfect choice.

Austin is maybe one of the worst musical theater actors I have ever seen in a non-regional theater capacity, so..... yes he would be great in Tarzan.
Actually that's unfair- even in Tarzan he would stand out as bad.

Posted: 3/19/07 at 10:10pmI heard a Rizzo rumor the other night, from a friend, that I won't say here because it's not at all confirmed and it wouldn't be fair. But, I will tell you that the majority of you, if this hapens, will go absolutely CRAZY!! Haha. Some good, most will probably break your fingers you'll be typing with such a fury!

Amy Spanger? Orfeh?
We've heard them all. Jenny Powers was more or less confirmed by Broadway.com.

How would Orfeh do it? She is VERY employed right now.
No, this is someone who has only been in one show in NY and they have never been in an original cast. But I'm not playing the riddle game. If it happens, you'll here. It would be complete marketing.

Posted: 3/19/07 at 10:21pmShe was originally offered Rizzo. But now with this casting she would look like Allison Fishers mom.

Posted: 3/20/07 at 7:03pmEverytime I see Austin, I can't get over how much he looks like the lead in Grease 2 (I think the character is Johnny). So I have a hard time picturing him as Danny.

Posted: 3/20/07 at 7:50pmI heard from someone in the ensemble that the winner of this CRAPPY "You're the one that I want" is only going to be the lead in the Bway production for a few weeks and then they're being sent out on the tour. Wow- what a prize.

That wouldn't surprise me. I doubt the majority of the people watching the show would actually make it to NYC. It'd make a killing on the road. And, I think this has been mentioned before, but do you notice how careful they are about wording the "prize?" The winners play Sandy and Danny on "opening night." Nowhere do they say 'for 6 months' or 'a year.' Wow, look at me put way too much thought into that.
#68Another Grease Casting Rumor
Posted: 3/20/07 at 7:56pmYeah that's a good point. And true, the "winner" would make more money for the show on the road since I don't think anyone is going to go out of their way to make a trip to NY just to see the winner of the tv show. Most of the people that are watching it are in the business anyway. And who wants to pay $100 to see a show that was just here not to mention probably playing down the street at their local high school or community theatre. I've never one to wish a show a failure, but I just don't see this succeeding.

It's still all speculation.

Are you high? GREASE is one of the few shows that could succeed on Broadway on name recognition alone. It's the ultimate tourist show, opening at the perfect time.

I love some of this stuff! It's SO ridiculous, it makes NO sense but everyone knows someone, who knows someone...
I DO know someone in the cast. I keep saying, watch Sunday - much will be revealed about the cast!
#72Another Grease Casting Rumor
Posted: 3/20/07 at 8:08pmYeah I might be high but if a tourist is gonna shell out $100 it'll prob be for something not playing at their local community theatre or high school. It didn't last too long 4 yrs ago, I doubt it'll last any longer this go around. sorry, but I doubt this TV show is translating into very many ticket sales.
