My brothers are coming to visit me next week (ages 12 and 14), and I would really like to take them to a play. (I generally take them to musicals, but there isn't anything right now that I think either would be very excited about, and I'd love to broaden their horizens a bit.) The 14 year old has already seen the 39 steps, and I can't think of anything else that doesn't hve too much pg-13 content. A comedy would probably be best.

Thanks!

I don't really think there are to many plays out there for those ages. As far as musicals, 13 is designed right for there age group and there's also Billy Elliot, which is probably sold out all through next week though.

Boeing-Boeing is tame enough for a 12 year old I think.

I second someone who says probably there's really no appropriate straight plays for 12-14 yrs old right now. Have you thought about SLAVA SNOWSHOW? or RADIO CITY SPECTACULAR or Cirque du Soleil show playing this Holiday season?

Cirque Du Soleil may bore the 14 year old to no end.

For my 14th birthday I saw:
SA
August
Chorus Line
Chicago
RENT

I liked August as a play.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
Yes, Billy Elliot was my first choice, but I can't get tickets to that performance. And I was hoping for a play, but I guess there really isn't anything out there. (Shame.)

I didn't even think about Radio City... I'll probably have to bring them kicking and screaming, but maybe they'll enjoy it.

dg, August is probably a little too mature for them. Maybe the 14 year old could handle those themes, but I don't think the 12 year old is ready for it, and I don't see the need to push it on him.

The Cripple of Inishmaan is my favorite play currently running, and I don't think there was anything really inappropriate in it.

The Lion King? I love that show and I doubt it will bore your brothers.

kchenofan's computer is broken right now. This is her fridge. Now, you can leave a message, but say it slowly, so I can write it on a post-it note and stick it to myself.
